But honestly, I totally loved Iris. She had loads of self respect. Was she insecure and naive at times? Sure. But at the core she was strong. Grey genuinely expresses all the awkwardness, vulnerability, and humor of romantic situations.i could live without ever knowing that Dex (H) farted and what his junk looked like from the h’s unappealing descriptions, but his brand of alpha male-ness resembled that of KA’s heroes (he reminded me a lot of Tate from Sweet Dreams) and i kinda dug it. he might not be everyones cup of tea (especially if youve never read KA or an MC romance) with his rude, mean, and chauvinistic behavior, but i think his portrayal in regards to being a biker or a member of a motorcycle club was spot on. Well, there were three other words I'd like to hear but I'd take these from him. That didn't mean that he was the only one who knew how to give. He'd given enough. My bones and heart knew that there was nothing for me to fear. I loved him and sometimes there were consequences of it that were scary, but it—the emotion itself—wasn't. I knew that now. This book tells a story that may not sound powerful. If it sounds powerful, it’s because the main character (Aurora) is powerful. Aurora is going through a very tough situation in her life and is forced to start all over. So she moves to a small town in the mountains where she used to live when she was little. Her landlord happens to be very grumpy and very hard. Rhodes was grumpy but soft for her, but hard in all the other ways that matter. And this reason had him resembling a mama bear. A really aggressive, possessive mama bear. Which said something because Dex was normally that way. I couldn't even sit around Mayhem without him or Sonny within ten feet.

She meets a guy who makes her laugh, feels very comfortable, and instantly connects with her. When timid, virginal and naive Iris first meets Dex, the sexy and drop dead gorgeous owner of Pins and Needles the Tattoo Shop she hopes to get a job in, she couldn't stop drooling at his flawless face, 6' 3" smokin hot body and colorful tattoos. But as soon as he opened his mouth his arrogant, rude, impatient and alpha personality came out and she hated the jerk. He, along with other characters, are members of the Widows MC but this isn't really an MC listen. However, and after a lot of arguing, they slowly learn to trust each other but the poop really hits the fan when The Reapers MC comes to collect on a debt that her dead-beat Dad owes (who she hasn't seen for years) and he has run off with the money..... so they're threatening her and her brother for the cash. But you," his nostrils flared, "my sweet, sweet baby, have gotta be my favorite by far. I think you win first through one-hundredth place."There was no real angst in their relationship once it had grown to a point of being more than friends....any conflict was from outside their relationship...mainly Iris's deadbeat dad and his issues causing them trouble.

Sonny wanted to make a point because he kept babbling. "Just because you lived in Florida doesn't mean you weren't born into this." Screw it. What was the worse that was going to happen? I'd grown up around a felon. A biker. I'd loved that felon biker for longer than he'd deserved. I adore Iris and Dex; I'm such a softie when it comes to a grumpy alpha male who falls hard and fast. Iris is such a strong character too, so she can put Dex in his place, with his grumpy self.

In case you were wondering, I got my money's worth on this book!!! It was long, not too long, loved the characters. Dang MZ also accentuated Dex's Texan accent 🥺 Y'all I got so despo that I had to Google how Texan accent sounds like 😭
