Again like the first book this book comes across as very YA, the spice is just kissing. As a college/fraternity setting I was hoping for a little bit more than that. Thank you SOOO much to the author for providing me with an early copy in exchange for an honest review!

The ties of blood are a symphony of hearts, playing a melody of love that resonates through generations.” The second biggest problem with this was the dialogue. It was... not great. Everything was said so bluntly. Subltly and realism went straight out the window while this was being written. A perfect example of this is as follows. FMC is feigning interest in a guy so she can extract info from him. The first time she gets him alone, she immediately begins asking about the topic that she's extracting info about. Genuinely, she doesn't deviate from the topic ONCE during their date. And the guy isn't suspicious or put off by this at all. It was all very clunky and had no sense of subtlety or realism whatsoever. Chelsea could have been cut from this book entirely and nothing would change. But we needed a petty sorority girl for our "not like other girls girl" to compare to and have a conflict with. I damn nearly saw my brain with how hard I rolled my eyes every time she was in a scene. Everything spoke of their Savagery, said they were cursed men and women with darkness consuming their souls, unable to feel outside of themselves. They were creatures driven by hunger, unable to control themselves around humans. Everything said they were monsters, but Wilbur wouldn't accept that. He couldn't. The man he met that night was more than just a mindless, hungry monster. He felt things, Wilbur was sure. He sounded lonely, sad even, under the predator eager to control. The beauty of family is that it extends beyond genetics; it’s the connections that resonate on a deeper level.”I’m so glad there’s still more books! I am not a fan of a cliffhanger but it does the job to keep me interested!!!

This was a completely different vibe from most vampire books I've read. I loved the college campus setting, the non-misogynistic frat boys, and the respect and love these characters had for each other. Aaron is definitely a standout character for me. He is THE golden retriever male MC of everyone's dreams with a dash of overprotective "if you touch her I will kill you" energy. What is not to love? PDF / EPUB File Name: This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.pdf, This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.epub Something that bugged me big time that I noticed time and time again throughout the book was that whenever the Calem brothers ever said or did anything, they were always smiling. Smiling coyly, smiling playfully, a beaming smile, a wide smile, a warm smile ... smile smile smile. We get it, they're friendly and sweet frat boys in which they exist as an oxymoron. Aaron also has the energy of a middle schooler who discovered coffee for the first time, which easily teeters off into the realm of annoying and not as endearing as the author wants it to be. Case in point: Aaron turning into a child in the grocery store and literally...yeeting? Kimberly's debit card further into the store. But because Aaron is a cute boy with golden retriever energy it means he's easily forgiven <3 However I am in distraught over the way this book has ended and I need that third book like I need air. I need answers, I need happiness, I need something.Friendship is a blood relation of the soul, where loyalty, trust, and understanding run as deep as any lineage.” Some of the plot was told to me and I was expected to take it for what it was, (believe the scenario) but some things just felt implausible. Our blood relations are the living embodiment of our past, present, and the legacy we leave for the future.” This section will be short, because there isn't much to it. This is marketed as a vampire romance with a "cinnamon roll male lead" which let me tell you - boring is what he is - what they all are but I'll get to that later.

I enjoyed the writing style and love a good dual POV that switches between the love interests, especially in an enemies-to-lovers story. I can't wait to read the 3rd book. Family isn’t confined by genes; it’s the tribe of people who make you feel cherished, supported, and loved.” In the tapestry of life, family is the thread that weaves us together, creating a strong and unbreakable bond.” Hello! This was read as an ARC—thank you so much for this opportunity to review this as is was one of my most anticipated reads this year and it truly did not disappoint! I believe this is spoiler free just vibes so here we go 😊😊 It had been 8 months since I read the first book and this book doesn’t really recap on the smaller details so I highly recommend doing a re-read or skim over the first book again to refresh yourself with all the characters and smaller plot points, so you aren’t lost like I was.Philza walked the earth for another millennium before he got tired of doing it alone. There were whispers, of course, of other things like him out in the world, lingering in the shadows and preying on the weak, but he paid them little mind. They were young, feral, cursed for some crime, unlike him. He had been given a gift, a second chance. It had just taken a while to see it.

This story feels, to me, like one of those books where the characters are everything. Everything. Without these characters, the story wouldn't be as good for me, truly. It pains my soul to know I'll have to wait 1 year to return to the Calem brothers and Kim 😭. Overall I have to say the story was captivating. For a debut novel she did a really great job. This book is about a war between Legion and Kingdom with a subplot of discrimination between those who are transcendent (can shift into beasts) and those who are not. The FMC Wren (a rare blood witch) has more power than she thinks she can handle and spends her life suppressing her magic to keep herself safe. When she falls into the chains of Legion and is used as a pawn in their war she takes matters into her own hands making a deal with the Kingdom and a ruler she never wanted to side with. The characters are just painstakingly dull. I understand that the author was going for a "respectful" play on vampires, but there was a way to do that without making them lifeless. (pun intended) The main character was also just as dull as the rest of them. This is my second book I've read of Tuli's and I will say it again, her prose is stunning. Her descriptions and use of imagery create beautiful images, and her cadence is effortless to read. The long awaited sequel to S.L Cokeley’s This Blood that Binds Us is here! A cute college town romance with a badass FMC and a Golden retriever of a vampire MMC? Also found family vibes with the MMC’s protective brothers? Say less! This comment contains spoilers, so please don't read if you don't like spoilers! This is my personal rating for "The Blood That Burns Us"! Always so curious, aren't you Wilbur." He shook his head fondly and Wilbur's jaw snapped shut. "Ah well, I've been around for a long time, you see, wandering this earth alone. But I'm tired now, and I want more," His eyes flashed a brilliant blood red, "More than an empty manor and quiet halls. More than I was destined to have on my own." He stopped and stared at Wilbur again, eyes once again hidden in the shadow.
