About this deal

Since I have the Sonoff R3 DIY mode enabled, I will show you how to get the basics done in NodeRED if you want to use that instead of actually getting the flash done. When dealing with wall outlet (high) voltages you should satisfy yourself that whatever you are doing is safe and if unsure, seek advice from someone who is sure.

I wrote this tutorial for GNU/Linux users. That is, unless otherwise specified, the instructions assume that you are running a Linux distribution on your PC/laptop that will be used to interact with (and serve files to) the Sonoff device. If running iOS, you might be able to adapt the procedure more easily than if you were running Windows or other OS. My assumption was that I use the Sonoff R3 DIY mode to submit POST request without losing the eWeLink integration. It’s something that Yeelight Smart Bulbs do incredibly well. You can use the REST API and take advantage of the app and all available integrations at the same time. September 25th, 2021, Update #1: Updated the curl commands to escape double quotation marks ( ") in the -d (HTTP POST data) argument. I also made other minor changes to improve command execution (e.g., setting up environmental variables for IP_SONOFF and IP_HOST), fix typos, and improve readability. The PCB has all components soldered to it, which means that was the matrix PCB for all Sonoff R3 series. The relay board comes with GI-1A-5DH relay capable of 10A. The device publishes its own service (i.e. device capability) according to the mDNS/DNS-SD standard discovery protocol when the device is connected to LAN (Local Area Network).

If the service is not running, try starting it manually via sudo systemctl start apache2. If you run into issues, it is possible that there is another service already using the default port 80. Stop the other service and start apache2. The operation failed and the request was unauthorized. Device information encryption is enabled on the device, but the request is not encrypted. Long press the pairing button of RM433 remote controller for 5 seconds to enter Compatible Pairing Mode (AP)

GNU/Linux distro installed on the host machine, preferrably apt-based distros, such as Debian or Ubuntu. The operation failed and the request parameters are invalid. For example, the device does not support setting specific device information. When the device information is longer than 249 bytes, the first 249 bytes must be stored in data1, and the remaining bytes are divided by length 249, which are stored in data2, data3, and data4. The complete device information format is a JSON object. And you receive the status update that contains the most useful info about the Sonoff R3 status and the current configuration: {"seq":2,"error":0, To get the information, submit the payload to the URL: http://192.168.1.12:8081/zeroconfig/info {"deviceid": "yourdeviceid", "data":{}};

Success!

GPIO02 as a user configurable input is implemented in the Sonoff Basic module (introduced in 6.3.0.15). If you use GPIO03, you must use a device template (rather than selecting the Sonoff Basic module), and also disable serial logging ( SerialLog 0).

The discovery process must follow the mDNS/DNS-SD Discovery protocol to discover the Sonoff DIY Mode device with “_ewelink._tcp” service type when your application or client connect with Internet (WiFi or Ethernet); and once the webserver stops receiving GET requests, you know that it will then start flashing the firmware onto the device’s memory. Inside you will find a redefined, modular design. Sonoff Basic R3 series is divided into 2 parts: the relay board and connectivity interface. The design principle isn’t 100% consistent so I decided to poke around more.The operation failed and the device does not exist. The device does not support the requested deviceid. The DIY Mode allows you to use the REST API to connect SONOFF BASICR3 with your existing home automation system.

User tips: If the device has been paired with eWeLink APP, reset the device is necessary by long press the pairing button of RM433 remote controller for 5 seconds, then press another 5 seconds for entering Compatible Pairing Mode (AP) Gosund have recently confirmed that their current units will NOT support MQTT – and that they’d have to do some redesigning (I don’t understand why an OTA upgrade could not do that, personally)… No matter what, the Sonoff entry-level WIFI power control units are just cheaper than every one elses – it’s that simple. If only they’d all take MQTT as seriously a people like Arendst (Tasmota) and myself who have made replacement firmware for such boards. There are other good examples out there. However, the R3 is an improvement over previous similar controllers. Get the Hostname and Port of device service via parsing out the device DNS SRV record. (The default port is 8081)

User tips: If the device has been paired with eWeLink APP, reset the device is necessary by long pressing the pairing button for 5 seconds to enter Bluetooth Pairing Mode. Besides CE, FCC and RoHS certified, BASICR2 is also compliant with safety standards, having been tested and ETL certified by the authority, no need to worry about its quality and safety, If you want to learn about more detailed info for the safety and performance improvement of BASICR2 , please view the user inform letter here.
