Author A.A. Milne is best remembered for creating the fluffy, yellow teddy bear. This is a story of hope and courage. The year is 1943 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The area has been taken over by Hitler’s army. There are soldiers everywhere. The life of 10-year-old Annemarie has changed a lot. There is little food and everyone is very scared. There is talk about moving all of the Jewish people to another place. This is difficult for Annemarie because her best friend, Ellen, is Jewish. When Jonas and the rest of his group become the “Twelves” in December, they get special jobs. Because Jonas is smart and respected, he is given an extra special job. His new job is to become the Receiver of Memories.Because Ponyboy arrives late at home his brother becomes angry. This causes them to fight. As a result Ponyboy tries to run away from home. They meet up with the rival gang again and yet another fight begins. This time one of the enemies is killed. Emma thinks that she’s great at matching people up to get married, but she soon learns that maybe she shouldn’t interfere with (get involved in) people’s lives so much. 16.

FluentU takes authentic videos—like music videos, movie trailers, news and inspiring talks—and turns them into personalized language learning lessons.

This is a simple story about humans and animals living together as friends. It’s old, but the language is fairly easy to understand. It reminds us that animals can also experience feelings of love and, like humans, they will also protect the ones they love. The story is told by the horse. It describes his life and the many cruel people and difficult times he had to live through before finding peace. If you enjoy older stories with a little suspense, this will be a good challenge for you. It talks about the event that made a hermit decide to live alone for decades, with a mysterious window boarded up in his cabin. It also uses a lot of psychology and symbolism, so you may want to read the story more than once to understand everything it has to say. 28. “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs The year is 2081, and everyone has been made equal by force. Every person who is superior in any way has been handicapped (something that prevents a person’s full use of their abilities) by the government. Intelligent people are distracted by disturbing noises. Good dancers have to wear weights so that they don’t dance too well. Attractive people wear ugly masks so they don’t look better than anyone else.

Be prepared for many fun and funny moments, and some with a more serious tone. This book is perfect for reading little by little, since the stories are only connected by their characters. 10. The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane Have you ever loved a toy or doll so much, that you treated it as if it were alive? This story shows the power of love from a very unexpected viewpoint: that of a fluffy stuffed rabbit. It also highlights the importance of self-value, being true to yourself and finding strength in those who love you. 33. “The Friday Everything Changed” by Anne Hart Il rapporto tra fratelli qui è davvero ridotto, cosa che secondo me avrebbe dovuto essere ampliato e di parecchio. Nel primo libro vediamo il rapporto tra fratelli minori, ma Artemis è il fratello maggiore e proprio per questo ci dovrebbe essere stato qualcosa in più, qualcosa che non abbiamo visto in dalla mia finestra, che però mi aspettavo di vedere quiIn classic English literature, the language is so powerful that you’ll remember words, phrases and grammar long after you’ve finished the book. Knowing English will bring you multiple benefits in multiple aspects of your life, in the social, work and personal areas.
