I really liked reading Gwen's terrible (but hilarious) dating tales too - each one contains clues to the mystery - I was racing back to re-read them after I finished! Although I had an inkling of who the killer may have been early on, I still found myself swept up by the red herrings and Gwen’s bad decisions.

Add in a useless coffee van, with equally useless assistant, and a ton of broken dreams and Gwens life couldn't really get any worse. She is refreshingly realistic, a character who feels like a genuine human being rather than a mere archetype. Gwen is tryna get back in the saddle after a traumatic breakup, but things goes from bleak to abysmal when her dates start getting picked off one by one. Although the conclusion definitely pulled me out of the story a bit with just how outlandish it got.Not only does Chilton do a great job capturing the voice of a snarky 29-year-old woman who's hit a couple speed bumps in life recently, but he did a fantastic job writing realistic and cringeworthy dates. And like miss Finlay and her horny detective, we have a (unnecessary IMO) love story between Gwen and Dandy Lyons that includes sex in his superior's office (professionalism? Swiping through the few eligible bachelors left in town, she spends her evenings out on one disastrous date after another. It's a delightful (and murderous) read, full of suspense and humor and cleverness and fuckboys (Gwen's word, not mine).

I guess my expectations for men writing women's experiences is resting at the ocean floor with the 16-eyed critters that haunt my dreams, but I was really impressed with how he captured the dates and our knee-jerk reaction to be 'nice' and try not to upset the beast. and discovering her latest match is actually a serial killer (probably should have put that top of the list). Grew é simpática mas irrequieta, propensa a ações impensadas, um risco ambulante, caótica, um desastre, confusão, perigo, não tão fidedigna como aparenta, e com um péssimo gosto para homens. Quick and exciting thriller, but the plot jumped the shark a bit, and took the main character in a direction I couldn't get on board with.Gwen's reactions and emotions are relatable, and her sense of humour adds an entertaining dimension to her point of view. Gwen and her longtime boyfriend, Noah, broke up, and being a younger woman, she immediately joins a dating app to “get back out there”. As a mum of two demanding toddlers, I rarely have any time for myself, so I have really high expectations of anything I give my time to. It's real, as real as you can make a fiction thriller without it being dull anyways and I just loved it.

Best of all, the suspense carried on right to the last page as you just couldn't guess who'd done it!Spent six years with the guy, despite the fact he ghosted me on our first date because he went to the wrong Kmart location (the only place within walking distance for then-carless me – it was, um, a very … romantic Kmart, okay?
