Pal Heather Suttie, who hosted the launch party, said: “Sophie’s book has become a cult classic and What Happens in Dubai has already had hundreds of five star reviews, she’s a total star. I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most. HarperCollins UK publishes a wide range of books, from cutting-edge contemporary fiction, to block-busting thrillers, from fantasy literature and children’s stories to enduring classics.

I loved the main characters clumsy, loveable and hilarious traits and the events she got herself into had me in stitches!Currently working on her third novel, which continues the outrageously funny dating disasters of lead character Zara, Sophie's first book has sparked interest from a number of TV production companies. We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse. A Glasgow Kiss was originally a self-published novel, as Gravia admits she had no idea how to approach publishers. The story follows Zoe as she comes to grips with dating in the modern era, meeting someone knew, getting to know them and finding out quickly who is right or wrong for her. Her third book, Meet Me in Milan was also a number one best seller on pre-sales alone and it hits the shelves on the 17 th of August.

I felt like the main character was quite immature, if I’m 29 years old and that bothered about a “hairy fanny” that I need to mention it before every date… who caressssss. Perhaps the most startling is that Sophie wrote the book while juggling the demands of being a full-time nurse in a busy Glasgow hospital during lockdown with the responsibilities of being a single mother to two children. The book, though fictionalised, features Zara, a young Glaswegian health worker whose online dating adventures could have been scripted by Quentin Tarantino and Bette Midler. So, mark your calendars for Wednesday 26 th July when the first episode of Sophie’s podcast “A Glasgow Kiss N Tell” drops, then it’s fortnightly.During the party the author also took part in a 30 minute question and answer session where she entertained the audience with excerpts from her own life that didn’t make either of her books! I found the main character a little too shallow and the language of the book was definitely cruder than I had expected.

The story is a basic, easy to read tale that will pass the time, but I cannot forgive the poor grammar - use of apostrophes for plurals, incorrect use of your/you're and there/their/they're.As Scott living in America was delighted with the Glasgow banter and memories of growing up Scottish. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself. A group of us are all reading this at the moment as part of our newly formed and made up book club and honestly we couldn't have chosen a better book to start with. The relatability, Glaswegian humour and insight into the female mind and the antics of the lead character, Zara Smith, 29, have also garnered interest from TV production companies.

Joyce Ross, fundraiser at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “We’re delighted to be supported by the team at Embargo and look forward to hearing from Sophie and finding out how she combines being a mum, nurse and writing a best-selling novel. Instead of the book being a romance it’s about self love (something you don’t really get until the end because she has no development until then) and that could be been better written and portrayed through the whole book, she could have started to stick up for herself more, you could have seen her change things but I just didn’t get that feel from her unfortunately. A hilariously funny book that had be giggling non stop and one that you’ll never forget, I definitely won’t. A Scots healthcare worker, who wrote her first novel based on hilarious dating disasters, has soared straight to the top the erotic fiction chart. Sophie said: “This is something completely new and I’m super excited to be welcoming a wide range of guests to talk about sex, dating and life in Glasgow! It’s just so honest and it could only have been written by a Glaswegian because it’s got that honesty and directness that’s usually missing from fiction that deals with sex and relationships. uk/landing-page/orion/orion-company-information/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Orion Publishing Group Limited. At a young age, she found herself writing funny stories or poems to friends and family for special occasions, and after high school she undertook a performing arts diploma, flourishing in her creative writing class. I have not reviewed on goodreads or my Instagram account, as I don’t like to publish negative reviews (What I don’t love might be someone else’s favourite!
