An immensely readable novel which handles serious issues – fractured families, the nature of celebrity – with the lightest of touches. I would say this book is for older readers because it is a very complicated book to read because one chapter destiny is talking and the next sunset is talking. And yet, Lauren claims that she keeps seeing the woman and that her babies are in danger, and soon Harper is sucked into Lauren’s spiral of fear. I am fine now, but I still remember with uneasy clarity the horrible postpartum anxiety I experienced, the worries and fear that I would fail miserably as a mother and that I was doing everything wrong.

I learned a lot about the extreme and scary cases of postpartum in psychology of crime, so I always find it a neat yet scary topic. Much as I'm reluctant to resort to book-marketing cliches, Little Darlings really feels like it could be the thriller of the summer; I've already witnessed some buzzing about it on social media. The two become fast friends and Sunset believes her story about them being sisters, but Destiny and Kate get thrown off the premises when Sunset's mother Suzy discovers them. If there is a sequel to this book, I hope it addresses the neglect and abuse that these kids suffer from.I expected, from the premise and the direction the entire novel seemed to be taking, at least the possibility of fairies.

I know what it is like to do the night shift every night with one child so my heart went out to Lauren doing it with two! DS Jo Harper reviews the report the next morning and something about the event pushes her to meet Lauren and to further investigate it.To say more kind of gives it away but if you don't have any ability to accept the otherworldly then it's not the book for you. Little Darlings is a heart-warming story with two girls from two different backgrounds, but when they have met once they seem to have known each other their whole lives. But she knows what she saw: that night, in her hospital room, a woman tried to take her babies and replace them with her own…creatures.
