About this deal

The third generation of the Big Shuriken CPU cooler comes with several important improvements, such as the new, asymmetrical heatsink design for unrestricted memory compatibility and the newly developed Kaze Flex 120 Slim PWM fan with 17 mm height.

tall perfectly fits Small Form Factor PC(Mini ITX, HTPC Case), BS3 is 9mm higher than previous version(SCBSK-2100: 59mm). However, the view of it behind the memory of the Big Shuriken 3 does show that this is wide like a 120mm tower cooler, but hardly needs space above the motherboard to obtain airflow.Scythe has, at least, played it sensible by putting a nice large image of the cooler front and centre with a particular highlight make of its low profile design. As we have stated in the past the Intel I7-3770k system is not located in our lab and so it's obviously not our primary choice when testing CPU Coolers. Things like universal mounting options, Zero Interference to components around the cooler, doing so as the shortest C-Style cooler with a 120mm fan, and keeping with the easy of mounting that many of the Scythe coolers of the past have offered. One, if the fan is supposed to be 1800 RPM and it only turns at 1600 RPM, there is a prominent issue glaring at us there. We loved the fact that the noise topped out at only 35 Db to gain all of that extra performance, but the fan was at only 1600 RPM.

Scythe may not be one of the best-known names in terms of cooler manufacturers, but we have often been surprised over just how popular their products have been with our community.

I have it connected to an Intel Core i9-13900T CPU on a MSI MPG Z790I Edge Mini-ITX motherboard, driving a home theater rig in the living room and it's inaudible during normal operations using a "balanced" fan profile, with the CPU running between 41-57 degrees depending on the video transcoding load. The "package" complete 5 nickel plated all-copper heatpipes, Scythe's 3rd generation hyper precision mounting system and a nickel plated copper base.

So when it comes to having the best performance, and the ability to suit many more environments, we have to give the edge to Scythe and show them the love this cooler deserves. However, in the pull setup, air wouldn’t get recycled, so ambient temperature ended up being a little lower. With unique coolers, fans, and accessories in their product portfolio, it is not surprising that they have garnered a dedicated following. The side panel was closed for this review because the heatsinks tested both fit inside the case without issue. The combined efforts of the five heatpipes, flat base, and 120 mm fan pay of nicely – but what level of noise output was required to cool the toasty Core i7-7700K so well under sustained multi-threaded loads? This is done to allow time for the thermal conductive material to achieve the optimal performance level. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively. There were no clearance issues to report with this motherboard as the heatsink design kept the fins and heat pipes away from VRMs and clear of the DIMM slots. The purpose of this TekSpek is to delineate the publicly known features of Intel’s next generation desktop microarchitecture.
