About this deal

I’ve had this several times before as a dram on its own and am now glad to have a bottle at home – especially with the GoT branding to complete the set. You will defend (at our option), indemnify and hold harmless us and our parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, (sub)licensees, assignees, successors, authorized third party contractors from any and all loss, damage, claim, liability or expense (including reasonable outside legal fees and costs) actually incurred as a result of a third party claim arising out of a breach or alleged breach of your obligations, representations and warranties made herein. The only off-note is the bitterness on the finish, but it’s not balanced by any interesting characteristics. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. The smallest of the distilleries to be owned by drinks giant Diageo and established in 1845 in the east highland area of Balmoral and bestowed royal status after a visit from Queen Victoria in 1848.

The distillery’s single malt does not seem to find distribution into the US, except via a few independent bottlings which are few and far between. If I had one criticism of it appearing in the GoT series is that I do think it’s a missed opportunity to show something else from Royal Lochnagar itself. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. In addition to the 12-year-old single malt, the distillery's two pot stills also produce a large amount which is used in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Not a great recommendation for a whisky with a royal charter from no lesser heads of state than Queen Victoria, Edward VIII and George V. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. The story told is that shortly after the opening of the distillery, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were invited by the owner at the time. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously.

Too many malts at 40% die short and bitter ends, but this has some sweetness lingering for a reasonable time with malty spicy flavours associated. Jean-luc - if I went out to a pub and this was the only single malt available then I wouldn't be disappointed. Later, the distillery became a purveyor to the court and was allowed to bear the suffix Royal, which was even confirmed again in 2021 by a Royal Warrant of Appointment. g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. If you keep it in your mouth long enough you will have the desired finish with a hint of lemon grass. That said, prior to his fall from grace, I could easily imagine the gout-destined Robert Baratheon swigging copious amounts of this stuff from oversized, stag-laden golden goblets.

Your continued use of the Service after any such changes or updates take effect will constitute acknowledgement and (as applicable) acceptance of those changes or updates. Thankfully, Royal Lochnagar differs from the Baratheon dynasty however as it is not lying “in ruins” as per the Song of Ice and Fire lore. Palate is about the same but I love the mouthfeel (slightly creamy) with the feint smokiness weaving it's way through to a dry, grassy finish. Blends, and in particular the likes of "find a hill, put one foot in front of the other" (not to advertise), are designed to be very drinkable, mass produced, and sold to the masses that usually dont know any better.

One of only three distilleries in Scotland that are allowed to use the "Royal" name on the label and came about because of its location near the Royal residence of Balmoral and was a favourite tipple of Queen Victoria and her husband Albert. Each bottle represented the signature profiles of its chosen distillery and was aligned to a designated House or institution from the books and show.Any new functionalities, tools and features shall be part of and governed by the Terms from the moment they are launched and/or available. Beyond the marketing blurb there is little said about the whisky itself – which is the same on the regular packaging too – but what we do know is that it is comprised of whiskies no less than 12 years old, it has been coloured (“Mit Zuckercolor”) and is housed at 40% ABV [ed: taking a semi-educated guess it seems that it would be a combo of ex-bourbon and ex-Sherry matured spirit). The taste opens with fruity, cakey sweetness and expands with some smoke and a spicy tingle on the tongue that seems to moisten rather than dry.
