The language can get interesting – they’re young kids – and if my son is working he’d be embarrassed I was there. I was really looking forward to reading this book as it has been a while since I’ve read any of her books. First came a fence-mending encounter with French President Emmanuel Macron following her notorious 'friend or foe' speech during the Tory leadership campaign. The first half of the book is pretty straightforward, and again, I felt like it read like a book for younger audiences.

And of course, this has been part and parcel of the withdrawal of western troops, but it’s also been the approach of the Taliban, and of course it’s been a test for the Afghan security forces. The pace does start to really pick up and was a brilliant twist nearer the end which did blindside me I didn’t expect that at all , I did really enjoy the second half and ending of this book , I loved twist on the final page too .
