About this deal

I also take Al -rehab red rose with me (it is a very cheap and good dupe for Kenzo Flower) in a roller, because it is small and it is really comfy to reapply. Kenzo Flower (2000) was the final nail in the coffin when it comes to my personal disdain for violet, iris, rose, and other powdery florals. Flower by Kenzo is a cottony, powdery vanilla, and when the fragrance settles a bit, vanilla becomes smoky thanks to the incense. Sometimes it’s plain talc like, on other days the vanilla accord envelops more and hugs you like a fluffy, warm cloud.

It is mesmerizing as a whisper, a huge commercial success and entirely imagined from a flower with no scent. I do think I would need to scrub this scent off if I were feeling migrainous, but honestly I do that with most fragrances, simply because I would never want to create that association and ruin an otherwise great perfume.

I like the soft and powdery bulgarian rose and the honeyed hawthorn in the opening, but I'm not too keen on the ammoniac smell from the black currant and the astringent and citrusy quality from the mandarin orange.

Anyway, this smells just like what I was hoping Miss Guerlain Rose nRoses would smell like, only with more longevity (by far). I also decided to go for it when a review here for SJP’s Lovely You said that it smelled just like Kenzo Flower. I actually poured it all into a prayer candle to burn, and the smokiness rounded out the vomit, but I was still left cold. I hated it even more because she also made me wear it sometimes because I had no perfume of my own, and I would have that smell that made my head hurt for hours.Yes it probably is a bit more "mature", but it's not the old folk's home toilet cleaner I had in my head for years 😀. The problem might be with ME, as I am looking for the scent of poppy SEEDS; the black, ripe, harmless, tiny ones, out of which the extremely healthy poppy seed oil is extracted. Top notes are Bulgarian Rose, Hawthorn, Black Currant and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Parma Violet, Rose, Opoponax and Jasmine; base notes are Vanilla, White Musk and Incense. They are somewhat similar but Venise is not nearly as powdery and it does not feature violet or rose. I like the way that the notes surrounding such a prominent violet give way to a very delicate, airy and fresh powder rather than a dank soapy aldehydic powder associated with a more mature scent profile.

Because who doesn't want to smell like silky rosy sandalwood powder as she drifts off to sleep or rouses herself for another trying day?my mother received this as a gift from some relatives but she's a "fresh" fragrance kind of person, thus, it was handed down to me. Nice powdery notes, just don't wear during summer or you'll suffocate yourself and everyone around you lol. I was looking for something that worked with blouses and pencil skirts, but carried a feminine floral quality to it. What’s odd is that I love powdery fragrances and I love all of the notes listed, however this has to be my most despised fragrance of all time.

Going onto the scent, somedays I think it's a gloriously beautiful floral powdery perfume, while other days I think it smells like violet scented talcum powder. Morillas showed Kenzo three perfume trials that he’d been working on; everyone liked the one that Morillas had, by chance, dubbed Pourpre, or purple. i do like this scent, I don't see it as bad but it is sometimes very overpowering and makes my head ache. I think it’s got too much Violet in it, and what I really love is Iris and orris, not so much violet. But as it happens, this is the kind of fragrance I love (and not unlike another great recent bargain find, Jaipur Bracelet by Boucheron, although that is more of a dusky violet whereas this reads to me as more of a deep velvety pink, like the deepest pink in the inside of a conch shell, or a kitten's mouth. An unusual riff on a powdery floral that features violet prominently, Flower is a pretty decent, creative floral scent, ideal for transeasonal daytime wear. The incense note in this is too loud, and maybe my nose has changed I couldn't bare with white floral notes anymore. Am I right to say that Flower is a head-over-heels trick inasmuch as it is advertised by/with/by virtue of a nice red poppy flower, whereas there is not a single trace of poppy in it, according to the notes description at least? Had this when it was released, loved it, then didn't have it until now, 30 years later because it was my mum's perfume.
