Aside from some textural inconsistencies in the form of little clumps (they did dissolve during application), it easily broke down makeup and left our skin feeling calm and balanced. It effectively broke down all face and eye makeup—aside from waterproof mascara, which we needed to use a warm cloth to fully remove—and it didn’t feel stripping or too greasy on the skin. We also noticed a reduction in facial rednessover the period that we tested this product because it completely removed the need to harshly rub skin to remove makeup and sunscreen. Makeup and grime easily melted away, though some waterproof mascara remained and needed a separate eye makeup remover to fully get off. Contrary to what you might think, those of us with oily skin found that the balm actually helped to balance the skin despite its oily consistency, — removing the excess oil without causing dryness or a tight sensation. We recommend this splurge with the caveat that it may not fully remove all makeup; however, the delivery system, quality of ingredients, and the way it left our skin feeling is worth the trial. We only wish that it came with a scoop or spatula to make the application process easier and more hygienic. Erborian Centella Solid Cleansing Balm is formulated with soothing Centella asiatica, softening sweet almond oil (which is rich in vitamin E), and hydrating shea butter. While it might not sound like the most oily-skin-friendly formula, our tester says that it performs similarly to a typical foaming cleanser. Even waterproof, smudge-proof graphic eyeliner didn't stand a chance against the Keys Soulcare Nourishing Cleansing Balm. Sunscreen and makeup were removed easily with minimal resistance after a few rubs. The end result is a clean, hydrated, and glow-y feel. "It's soft, luxurious, and takes off makeup so easily that I barely had to rub," says our tester. While it might be a bit pricey for its size, we believe it is well worth it. Beyond its ease of use, our tester also says that this cleansing balm is incredibly hydrating. “This cleanser has been fantastic for me because it thoroughly cleans without drying out my skin — my complexion actually feels more moisturized and supple after using it,” she shares.So, cleansing is an essential part of my routine — and it can be enjoyable, too.
