The built-in AI proved extremely accurate when it came to identifying people in the camera’s field of view, even providing a small thumbnail of the person in the Events list. We found the two-way talk function clear, too. The resolution is a bit of a double-edged sword here. Because it’s only 1080p, the HomeBase can store more footage of the Eufycam 2 than it can of the Eufy Video Doorbell that has a 2K resolution. The downside, of course, is that there’s slightly less detail in the 1080p footage. It’s not enough to blur essential details, but it does make it slightly harder to identify faces at longer distances. On the rear of the camera, you’ll find a micro-USB port for charging, plus the screw-mount attachment, while a sync button that’s used for setup – or to perform a factory reset – sits on the top of the camera.

Beyond the video clarity and storage, there are some notable features to the EufyCam 2 Pro that are useful. As well as offering storage space, it also doubles as a Wi-Fi repeater that boosts signal to the cameras. Thanks to its pretty stellar feature set, the performance of the Eufycam 2 is surprisingly solid... as long as it’s within 60 to 100 feet of the HomeBase. What is the battery life and capacity? From a single 5 hour charge receive 180 days of battery life. The battery capacity is 6700mAh. That being said, a key component of its wireless-ness is the included HomeBase that comes in the box. The HomeBase looks like an all-white wireless router – it’s fairly plain but still a bit bulky. That’s ironic, of course, because you’ll need to connect it to a router and will find all the wires to do so inside the box. The app has a Power Manager option for each camera that can make the battery last longer, though. You can set the camera to Optimal Battery Life Mode, which limits video clips to 20 seconds to prevent draining the battery. Meanwhile, an Optimal Surveillance Mode allows clips to be as long as 60 seconds and a Customize Recording Mode lets you choose how long clips last. Alina Bradford / Digital Trends

Once they're paired, it’s time to go outside and mount the cameras. We mounted ours onto the roof of our house - which took a bit of finagling - but theoretically it could mount to most surfaces if you’re handy enough with a power drill. The cameras also feature a built-in microphone and speaker, which enables you to also converse with anyone in the camera’s field of view.
