high by 6 ft. in width. The east window is squareheaded of three rounded lights similar to those in Eleanor's room is well documented as probably the most haunted at Chingle Hall. Legend tells of a young girl held captive for over 12 years in this room, where she was to die at the age of 20. Visitors have reported feeling overwhelming emotion upon entering the room and the sensation of somebody holding their hand or tugging at their clothes. It is also not uncommon to be surrounded by an overwhelming smell of lavender... We were sitting in the main hall next to the chapel having a smoke by the fire when all of us heard what we thought was some one speaking in Latin in the chapel. We ventured into the chapel and there was nobody there.

The small hamlet of Wycoller can trace its roots beyond 1000BC when it was an agricultural settlement. Now a ruin, Wycoller Hall sits in the centre of Wycoller. It was built by the Hartley family at the end of the 16 th century. One thing is still certain and that is that Chingle is one of the most celebrated houses in Lancashire. There are said to be no fewer than 16 ghosts. Chingle Hall is a grade II listed [1] manor house [2] in the township of Whittingham near Preston, England.

As residents of Lancashire, we should perhaps be alarmed that so many of our famous halls are described as ‘one of the most haunted houses in England’ but in reality, this lends an air of excitement. The fact that we have so much of the unknown on our doorstep can make for a more interesting Hallowe’en (or average Sunday) and we can excite and delight others by sharing the spooky stories which are found all over. Here, we have focused on just three of the locations said to be haunted but there are many more besides. Another interesting village situated in the area is Grimsargh and the names are so similar that the settlement is often confused with Goosnargh. and the mesne tenant was the lord of Woodplumpton, (fn. 143) with which manor it continued to descend till I was at the top of the stairs with my first wife and our friend Shaun was in the bedroom at the end of the hall. We were trying to get the owner's dog to follow us down the hall but it would not move away from the bathroom door and seemed genuinely petrified. After a few minutes we gave up and were just about to join our friend in the haunted bedroom when the latch on the door at the bottom of the stairs lifted and the door opened slightly and then closed again with some force. lands'; his son Robert, aged forty, was heir (fn. 108) WHINNY CLOUGH (fn. 109) was part of the Hoghton

The census collection is designed so that each group of postcodes should contain at least 100 people (50 in Scotland). Saint John Wall's room is renowned for sightings of the ghostly monks, and regular mechanical noises, as if the chains were still trying to lift the bridge over the moat... Chingle Hall is by far the most actively haunted house I have ever experienced which was during the time Judy owned it. My then partner painted the murals and we stayed several nights, believe what you will but we were literally chased out of there!!!!portion to the west, has 348, so that the whole township measures 8,672 acres. In 1901 it had a population of 1,091. (fn. 2) Goosnargh proper contains a number However, the Southworth’s were a Catholic family and the de Houghtons were Protestant so the families would not give the couple their blessing and the young lovers were forbidden from marrying. They would sneak away to meet by the river where they made plans to elope and marry in secret. I went there when I was 11 and i am 13 now, when I went i was scared stiff so i never went in, I got frightned that a ghost would be watching me or touch me! So I stayed in my dads car in the car park thing whilst my dad was looking inside the windows, so I decided to take a picture of the house to see if anything would come up and when I looked (this is no joke)there was a figure floating in the air and i could tell it was a man as it had a brown beard and moustache he looked a bit like jesus! and he had a long powder blue dress/nighty on! I was absolutly TERRIFIED so i showed my dad and I made him delete it because i was to scared and it was on my phone! I'm going there tomorrow thats why I was looking it up on the internet! north side. The windows of the aisle are all squareheaded and of two lights, except that at the east end,

I stayed at the hall some years ago and found it a fascinating place.I dared myself to go into the bedroom with the pictures of holy men on the wall and shut the door and turned the light of, i sat there waiting for the door to burst open which was reputed to happen but unfortunately the only thing i saw was my eyelids drop! I think i slept for an hour or so until another member of my party awoke me, i did feel very relaxed in that chair. Does anyone recall beig told that the childrens spirit was following them, by the guide? Our guide said that they where following me around and i hoped that this would manifest something but them spirits are a bit shy! All in all a great night in a great place, i'd have no problem living there! I hope i can visit again. Goosnargh Chapel lies Eaves Green and to the northwest Middleton; Inglewhite is 1½ miles north of the William Singleton of Withgill—obviously the William Singleton of Fermanholes of another writ—complained in We are not afraid nor even belive in ghosts - they is a group of 10 of us - we will raise money for charity and all stay over in the house - we will record the whole thing and set the record straight - where do we sign? However, their plan was uncovered and on the night they had planned to make their escape, Dorothy’s brothers ambushed de Houghton and killed him and his companions. All three were buried in the chapel grounds at Samlesbury Hall and young Dorothy witnessed it all.my brother stayed there in 95 he had some weird things happen to him,i would love to stay there how do i go about it. i went to chingle hall with my mum and dad at the age of 11 i have blonde hair and when i went into eleanors room she took a shine to me. My mum said she say a faint mist flowing around me my mum had taken some pictures of me in her room and when they where developed i could see very faint girl around me as if she wanted me to stay with her

well, while there are a number of well documented cases of phenomena at the Hall i have it on exceptionally good authority from a former workmate who has worked on TV productions there that the guides are not above putting lavender pot pourri around as the tours arrive and while i have personally experienced some odd events there i would say that for genuine hauntings Hoghton Tower is hard to beat ive been 2 this hse many times and on 1 visit there was a little girl in yellow dress on briage wen let into hse isaid i met your daughter out side she said i dont have 1 but i always felt i was not alone apparently by a family arrangement, upon John Singleton, a younger son of William Singleton of Broughton Hoghton was lord of one-sixth of Comberhalgh—a distinct hamlet in Whittingham—and Randle de Singleton of the Its interesting to read the experiences of people who wanted to go to the hall and challenge their beliefs fuelled by alcohol and armed with a blinkered view. How scientific! never mind with so many drunks with bad attitudes and with time on their hands a break from the pub or watching match of the day may seem a good idea. Its little wonder Chingle Hall has closed its doors to visitors!
