About this deal

This is when I came across the Eddie Flynn series, a legal thriller series that is equally well-written. Now Mr. Cavanagh is an author I follow for any new books he writes. Nonetheless, he still went on to practice civil rights law and even became part of a number of high profile cases. The truth can be far too brutal.Maria has been married to Paul Cooper for almost two years, but not very happily. Paul travels a lot, and he’s emotionally distant even when he’s home. So Maria has been having an affair with Daryl for almost five months. But just as she’s preparing to leave Paul, she finds some papers that show he’s been hiding his identity from her this whole time, that Paul is really the secretive, best-selling author J.T. LeBeau. Angry at his deception, Maria decides to stage her discovery as a burglary to try to pressure Paul into telling her the truth. But Paul has more he’s hiding than than just his secret life as an author, and Maria has started a chain reaction that threatens them both …. But the truth is a tangled web and Maria finds herself caught up in a far deadlier game than she ever realised. With multiple narrators moving the story along, the book has a slower pace to begin with whilst the scene is set but then reaches a point where there is barely time to pause for breath before each rollercoaster ride begins again.

Twisted by Steve Cavanagh | Crime Books

This was my first Steve Cavanagh book and after hearing about this author all over the social media, I was excited to read this book. A fantastic read. Guaranteed to be one of the big books of 2019. You won't be able to put this down. It's about time we found out the truth about JT LeBeau... * Luca Veste * I found the book hard going and I am soooooo disappointed I did as I loved the authors last book THIRTEEN ( one of my fav’s last year) but although as say its original I think Steve is just brilliant! Trouble is I now find it difficult to find other books that I like. It's full of gritty secrets, lies, deceit, hidden identity, red herrings, and just when you think you found the puzzle piece, think again! This killer thriller more than lives up to its name with twists that left me breathless. A surefire hit from this master of the genre. * Steph Broadribb * A fantastic standalone thriller. Punchy, ridiculously gripping, fast-paced, clever. Beautifully-plotted and incredibly fun to read. He’s done it again. SUPERB.’ Will Dean I am a huge fan of mind bending thrillers where most of the enjoyment comes from solving the riddle or puzzle before its revealed. However, this was a little bit too convoluted hence the 3/4 stars, or maybe it’s because I didn’t work it out. :)

The other thing great twists have in common is that you don’t see them coming. You’re so wrapped up in the story that they hit you without warning. Because ‘Twisted’ sells itself on its twists I found myself constantly looking for them, so that when they did come, they weren’t that unexpected. Often, I’d spent so much time thinking about them that I’d already figured out what they were going to be. What a cleverly written book this was. This is definitely written for readers. And most definitely for those that love deeper twists in books that they think they’ve worked out.......but I beg to differ. She is not only convinced that her sister murdered him, but also believes that she has not yet left the house. Leonard Howell's biggest fear has become his reality, following the abduction of his lovely daughter Caroline. The biggest problem though, is that ‘Twisted’ really feels built around the turns in its plot. The characters and events are just there to carry you from one twist to another. As a result, I found myself not caring at all about what happened to the people I was reading about. That is the kiss of death for any book, no matter how good the twists are.

I loved the way the book showed you the dull parts of police work without actually feeling boring. The addition of those scenes made the book realistic enough to make sense but deliberate enough to capture your interest. After moving to the field of civil rights, in 2010 he took on a racial abuse case representing a factory worker. This case resulted in a landmark damages ruling, and it made Steve Cavanagh quite famous all over again. To talk too much more about the plot would be to give away some of the obvious and less obvious twists. Suffice to say no one is who they say they are or who they appear to be except perhaps the dogged police officers who just know they are being lied to and that something is not right with pretty much every scenario they are presented with. Twisted is no doubt a brilliant thriller that will grab your attention and make you on a journey you won’t forget. I was a huge fan of Thirteen but for me this book just wasn’t as good in my opinion; the characters weren’t as well developed and I have to say the plot didn’t have the same impact. However, it is still a great thriller with an innovative plot that will give you goosebumps.
