About this deal

I'd like to say that the FX6 Dac/Amp is more comparable in power to 200mw / 32Ω like the FiiO E10k and not as stated in the specs for the product that has it showing as 910mw / 32Ω! Could you test the output with the gain jumpers ( https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/5rk667/fxaudio_dac_x6_gain_jumpers/) set to "high"? There are two analog outputs, one line level that is fixed and the other, on the front going through a headphone amplification stage. The knob controls the level of headphone output.

What can I say, even at 32khz the drop off in high frequencies is not as high as I expected and the drop is moved upwards when a higher sample rate is used, as I expected. Customers are to bear the consequences and fees incurred, if the parcel was undelivered due to any of the following situation:Ignore the Exasound E32 in yellow for a second. The red is FX-Audio DAC-X6 which has highest level of crosstalk in red. The first of them is a move to a Sabre ESS9018 DAC chip. The next one is the added Bluetooth connectivity that the original X6 didn’t possess. All the usual digital inputs are present too. To cut things short, here’s the full list of features:

I have the FX-Audio X6 mkII. I find it to be quite good. I also have the X6 version 1 without bluetooth and the O2 dac/amp from mayflower. In this review, I’ll be taking a look at the DAC-X6 and seeing how it performs with relatively low power headphones, being Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros at 80 Ohms, which are enough to warrant the use of an amp. I won’t be including detailed diagrams and graphs, which you can find here, but will be reviewing based on my opinion of sound quality, build, aesthetics and various other factors.

FX Audio DAC-X6 review - Prime Audio Reviews

Layering is good and the sound-stage is respectably wide, but the upfront presentation doesn’t convey much depth. That’s perfectly fine in my book as no device near this price can’t really do much stage depth either. What happened was this: the tonal balanced didn't really change at all, or it happened so imperceptibly that I can't tell the difference. But! The amount of detail doubled. Or tripled. Suddenly there is so much happening everywhere. So much air. So much detail. And it is a very smooth thing, too. There is no harshness to anything. You just find layers upon layers of texture in the instruments. The bass might be a smidgen more controlled than with the OPA2134, but it is very close. I listened to the line output of the DAC-X6 against the Topping D30 through my Stax SRM-007t headphone amp driving their "Pro" headphones. Going through my playlist, I could not detect any obvious differences. But if I squinted enough, I thought the Topping sounded better. See the frequency response measurements for possible reason. More important: it does not sound good to my ears. Harsh and messy with voices (even level and FR-matched).I will be using this unit on my other PC so I am ok with keeping it. I will update and/or give a more lengthy review in the future.. I should mention that the Fiio E10 was oscillating at its peak output into my 33 ohm load. I had to turn down the volume to "6" instead of max of "8" for the loaded measurement. The FX-Audio DAC-X6 on the other hand had no such problem so measurement is at its max output. The feature set is quite rich with USB, optical (toslink) and coax S/PDIF inputs. The unit is externally powered which is another unique thing in this low price rage. As such, power consumption from USB port is minimal at 50 milliamps.
