Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 23: Volume 23

With the movie and the first season now out, reading the manga is the way to go for fans who wanted to know and binge about this world and Tanjirou's journey, yet I may say that the anime is way better. The way they have handled the storyboards is just an eye pleaser. That is just my opinion though. Yet both media (written and animated) are worth it. It is just a matter therefore of personal choice whether or not you want to collect these volumes. The story of Demon Slayer takes place in a world where demons roam and terrorize humans. The main characters are demon hunters, individuals who fight to protect humans from demons and to avenge loved ones they have lost. The protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, is a teenager who lost his family except for his younger sister, Nezuko, who was turned into a demon. He sets out on a quest to find a way to heal her and return her to her human form. That might not seem like much considering this is Goodreads and all we do here is read and talk/think about reading. But if the manga has an anime by the time I want to get into the series, I am much more likely to watch the anime and skip the manga entirely. I'm not even interested in reading the manga for most of my top favorite animes. So for me it's a big deal. Because sure there are times when I'll mark the manga on my tbr, but that doesn't indicate the likelihood of me ever getting to reading it (I've got over 1.5k manga series on my tbr on Myanimelist). The ending was also very satisfying. many people die in this manga but the way it shows their happiness after they die really made me cry and happy for them.

Learning to slay Demons won't be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start. The surprise appearance of another individual named Giyu Tomioka might provide some answers… but only if Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first! Demon Slayer has lots of scary imagery, since it's about. And, even some of the situations the characters are in can frighten some viewers, such as the main character's family being slaughtered by the hands of a demon lord. I'm pretty sure there is some alcohol references, but I'm not sure. There is a lot of blood and a little bit of gore, usually when they chop off a demon's head. There is a few characters (Zenitsu, Tengen) who love women a lot but don't say anything too explicit. There is also a girl who wears something revealing (Mitsuri), but she is not sexualized. Demon Slayer has some good morals, such as moving on and never giving up. Unlike some anime, this has a good message! One thing that I didn't get in the anime is the opening thread that Tanjiro sees. I understand what it does, but I didn't get HOW he suddenly got this ability. I didn't realize that it's because he can SMELL the thread! :o :o :o That was cleared up in the manga and really appreciated that because I just sort of thought it "appeared" because "it just does" when Tanjiro uses concentration breathing.

Furthermore, why would the unknown demon just go and kill the MC's entire family but barely seem to eat the flesh from any one of them!? Demon Slayer, also known as Kimetsu no Yaiba in Japanese, is a popular manga and anime that has gained popularity in recent years. It was created by Koyoharu Gotouge and was first published in 2016. Synopsis: Tanjiro and Nezuko cross paths with two powerful Demons that fight with magical weapons. Even help from Tamayo and Yushiro may not be enough to defeat these Demons who claim to be a part of the Twelve Demon Moons that directly serve Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon responsible for all of Tanjiro's woes! But, if these Demons can be defeated, what secrets can they reveal about Muzan? No matter how many times I revisit it, it always makes me happy (which is kind of ironic since so many of my fav characters die). I'm glad got to experience the long hard journey with the Kamados and got to laugh, cry and celebrate with these memorable characters. I literally love everybody in this book; Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Giyu, Shinobu, Kanao, Rengoku, Mitsuri, Uzui, Muichiro... It’s good, just similar to other manga I’ve read. I found it predictable. It’s charming, for sure. I just wish I had came across this earlier in my otaku career. A good description of this would be “bland but trying not be.”
