About this deal

I have to say that neuropsychology and behavioral science have always fascinated me. There are many books out there about these topics. But I found this one particularly interesting as it covered real life examples which you could see yourself applying or identify body language behavior and what the other person in communicating. The authors have used real life examples and offer various exercises that you can undertake to practice reading people's emotions and behaviors. As the title suggests, it’s more of an “everyday” approach to body language, providing clear, actionable details you can use “in the field”. Allan Pease and Barbara Pease apply their experience in medicine, biology and psychology to illustrate the workings of the brain and how this influences our body language. In the Definite Book Of Body Language, the authors show us how we can use our knowledge of the brain's functions to understand people's emotions and behaviors. Body language is defined as the conscious and unconscious signals people give off that indicate thoughts and feelings.

In some parts of Europe, however, the same signal is used to imply you are nothing. In some South American countries, the symbol is actually a vulgar gesture. Examples of body language include facial expressions, eye gaze, gestures, posture, and body movements. In many cases, the things we don't say can convey volumes of information. Body language can tell you when someone feels anxious, angry, excited, or any emotion. It may also suggest personality traits (i.e., whether someone is shy or outgoing). But, body language can be misleading. It is subject to a person's mood, energy level, and circumstances.

If you care about body language, you need to be aware of your posture–which is an aspect of your presence–how you are interfacing with the world. You can raise your awareness of a subject by studying it. Videos are good to learn about body language, but do not provide enough study to penetrate deep into the permanence of your mind, which is why books are an excellent resource; you spend a significant amount of time with the material and in a place of study. Crossing legs away from another person may indicate dislike or discomfort with that individual. Pupil size can be a very subtle nonverbal communication signal. While light levels in the environment control pupil dilation, sometimes emotions can also cause small changes in pupil size. This book provides you the telltale signs of deception, how to make a difference between personal tics and twitches and signs of lying (because a closed posture not always means that you are lied to, but maybe the person in front of you is scared or cold). It's main purpose, I believe, is to refresh your memory. If you are not sure what a particular gesture or pose means, you can just look it up here. It's much easier to do it with this book, since it's content is categorized from upper to lower body. Plus it has more info than "What every body is saying" and no storytelling. On a social front I tested out some of the attractive and open female gestures in courting or even talking with men and they certainly do work. For example showing the inner wrist is supposed to be a sign of openness and femininity and when I casually had that part facing I was treated much differently. As you engage in conversation with another person, taking note of eye movements is a natural and important part of the communication process. For example, a poker player might blink less frequently because he is purposely trying to appear unexcited about the hand he was dealt.Importantly, you can apply the findings to both yourself and others. Not only will you read signals in people, but you’ll also be able to apply them to your own actions. It includes illustrations to really hit the points home. Again, I think that most of the things mentioned in the paragraph above have a very high commercial value and while they might carry some form of truth (yes, there are differences between the two sexes), they have been exaggerated for the public, because this is what sells and this is what the public wants to hear/read. Originally a musician, he became a successful life insurance salesman, he started a career as a speaker and trainer in sales and latterly in body language. This resulted in a popular sideline of audio tapes, many of which feature his irreverent wit. They have found that the use of body language and the capability to decipher it significantly contributes to our success.

The Definitive Book of Body Language: How to read others

The Secret Language of Your Body: The Essential Guide to Health and Wellness – Inna Segal, Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.LIE TO ME اللى بيبن أد إيه الغرب مهتم بالعلم ده جدا وبيحترمة لدرجة أنه يعمل مسلسل ناجح جدا عليه ولثلاث مواسم كاملة وأحزننى فى نفس الوقت Discover how your posture, walk, and gestures influence others to like or dislike you regardless of what good of a person you are. Fourth, men were also presented as some sort of primitive grunting beasts ready to jump at each other's throats... OK, I am exaggerating, but the authors did seem to see them as very simplistic beings incapable of any kind of complex thoughts. (I find this particularly insulting.)
