I've been on a reading spree lately, trying to catch up on my reading challenge. From the books I've been reading, so far none have touched me like RM Drake's book has. This book is everything… this book is for all who are breathing and for all who are no longer here. However, it was more of the 10,000-foot view of how various systems work together to create the current mess and what it would take to solve it. Nah, pretentious to pretend that we had to accept that we hadn’t seen one photograph of Solange so that we questioned the ‘reality’ of the whole story. Enjoyed it mostly (except for the gore aspect) solid and intelligent BUT with one caveat…I really didn’t think it worked to change the actress who plays Solange/Catherine in the last episode. Just ended up thinking something must’ve happened to the original actress, so that it made it confusing because did they think we wouldn’t notice?

In her twenties, when she returned home from her six years in Paris and Belgrade, she realised she couldn't live anywhere else. And now, she wants to stay in the city she loves as it's shaken, to see things through.

Hedgerows and Woodland-Edge

and so is this book, you will smile, you will cry, you will think!! And maybe thats what I enjoyed most about this book, that it makes you think deeply about the things around you, to really appreciate the people you have in your life or had and due to certain circumstance arent apart of your life ~whether by death or just life happens~. Provides comprehensive coverage of all our resident and migratory butterflies, including the latest information on newly discovered species such as the Cryptic Wood White and the Geranium Bronze. The definitive book on the subject, it includes fully updated distribution maps. However, I wanted a bit more from the characterization. Zora’s strength, resilience, and love for her family and her art were on full display, but I wish we had seen more of the nuances of her character. I also wanted more from the side characters. The ending also felt a bit abrupt. I get that in the horrors of war some threads will never be tied up fully, but it was a bit too open-ended for my taste. This book also includes one of my least favorite tropes (an affair), and the fallout of that was never examined in any real depth. Nora leaks Adrien’s manuscript to his publisher. In the 70s, Albert and Solange spend bloody summers along the French Riviera. I wasn’t much familiar with the details of these events except for a skeletal knowledge of the war having taken place. So I found myself a little lost at times in understanding the geography and the politics of the region. I also didn’t understand what issue the war began over. ( Then again, one of the characters says that even they fail to understand why the war started in the first place. So I guess there’s no easy answer to this question.) I would have appreciated a brief note at the end on the facts behind the cause of the war and the political climate at the time, just like the facts behind the ethnic groups were clarified in the author’s note.

I'd already read about the siege in the 2008 highly acclaimed novel The Cellist of Sarajevo which showed the power of music in this horrific circumstance. I've always been a fan of poetry, but this, this is just a bunch of words formed together "wisely" to make a master piece! In the UK there are currently 57 resident species of butterfly and two regular migrants. Of these, it is estimated that 76% have declined in abundance, occurrence or both over the past 40 years. Almost all of these losses can be attributed to man-made changes such as habitat destruction and pollution, along with larger patterns of weather and climate change. Personally I just didn't connect with this particular collection. I have a few marked because they're beautiful and I did connect to them, but majority of them I just didn't. Mainly because I'm married and in a wonderful relationship. These poems are beautifully written, had I been single or getting over someone etc maybe I would have connected with them more. Butterflies are an iconic and popular sight during the spring and summer months. They are also important indicators of a healthy ecosystem and provide valuable environmental benefits such as pest control and pollination. As food for birds, bats and other mammals they are a vital part of the food chain and have been used for centuries by scientists to investigate navigation, pest control and evolution, as well as countless other subjects. Priscilla Morris’ writing is serviceable but the book excels at created an emotive atmosphere. The reader will feel Zora’s pain and pleasure when finding ways to survive and her eventual bid for freedom.
