About this deal

The audio version went ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON. The narrators monotone voice didn't help. I didn't enjoy her portrayal of the other characters, especially the males, which sounded exactly like the females and exactly like each other. In the book, Nicole explores the subtle & often slippery nature of stalking -especially female online trolls-who use vague-posts, hashtags and images that are meaningless to others, but are deeply threatening targeted harassment to victims:

So, I promise you this- you won’t be bored. There’s drama galore but not in the cheap manner of a Latin American telenovela but rather in a devastating ‘this could actually happen’ way. Obsession is truly quite dark, difficult to process and full of emotions ranging from love to hate, from fidelity to spouse and God to disloyalty. This story was part Memoir and part Investigative Analysis on the subject of Stalking which featured Nicole's own distressing experience as well as the Psychoanalysis of it and the subsequent investigation into the processes and the effects on people who have been exposed to it.The story is written in first person and is told by each of the four people and their innermost thoughts and feelings. The story is written from four different perspectives, so you're reading the same events as each person saw it. Centered around two couples that are friends, the drama starts to unfolds as the wife of one of the couples asks her husband.....If you could who would you hook up with. Stupidly he answers and then it all starts to unravel before you.....it's uncomfortable, it's painful at times but you just can't look away. I was loving the POC representation. The heroine is half white half Singaporean. Subjects of racism, discrimination and everyday struggles of mixed/asian people in America were discussed in this book. We also got to have a peek into the heroine's culture. Obsession is a hard-hitting, emotional turmoil of a novel focusing on the lives of 2 married couples. Rob and Carly. Jenni and Craig. Craig and Jenni move to Cornwall to have a fresh start at their marriage, but Craig falls in love with another woman.

Now if your partner asked you honestly...... Who else would you go for if you could?... in a sexual context.... would you answer truthfully?? The drama between these two couples: Carly and Rob, and Jenni and Craig, is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that Carly has been made to have depression and paranoia, but I'm curious as to why Jenni was never diagnosed with anything. These women were pretty ruthless towards one another, and their husbands were complete idiots. I pretty much hated every single character in this book, with the exception of the children. They didn't do anything. Once again, only the children are innocent in a book like this. And guess what, she seems like she has a crush on him. But there’s a big problem for their relationship; her mother’s abusive asshole/ police officer boyfriend doesn’t want Delilah to fool around. So he has to catch the officer in the act when he physically abuses Delilah and her mother so he can use his as advantage to file a complaint against the cop who has real anger management issues. Delilah somehow managed to be - as Logan so beautifully put it- basic but also surprisingly intriguing. I found the progression of her character interesting. The way she killed so easily but only felt guilty over it due to societal expectations. She never really regretted what she had done, she only felt paranoid to get caught. I especially loved her thought process at the end mirroring Logan's. I hated pretty much everyone. I can handle an unlikeable character but Jenni was just vile in every way.It starts off when she asks a question about who her husband would want and the answer sets off chain of events that lead to bad things happening , once the first incident happens it's classed as a accident but no one knows what she is really like ... it does touch on mental health problems also it tells the story from all their point of views and how they see it happening I almost died of boredom. It took me eleven days to reach the 50% mark. And I was reading it non-stop. The novel starts innocently enough when Carly drunkenly asks her husband "Who else would you go for, if you could?" Oh Carly. Why did you ever have to ask that question? Rob's answer is like a dagger to her heart and brain. The die is cast, fates are sealed, destiny is determined. An obsession starts growing roots. So The Obsession is a dual POV story about a creep named Logan who becomes obsessed with Delilah who suffers from trauma caused by an abusive family situation. The two both attend the same elite North California private school and as Logan's obsession with Delilah grows he uncovers evidence that she killed her almost stepfather, an abuse copy and uses that to draw her closer. Delilah is tired of being the victim to controlling men and must find a way out.
