About this deal

Many of these details have the power to close my throat or wake me screaming, but as snapshots they are fading. My memories aren’t as vivid as they once were. The colors. The smells. The sounds. The fear. His brother is also being considered for day release after being in a secure hospital for the last 2 decades receiving treatment for his schizophrenia and Cyrus must decide if he can forgive him and once again have him live with him.

As things start to heat up in the investigation, each of them will have a part to play in finding the missing women. Although #LyingBesideYou is book #3 in the Cyrus Haven series I read it as a stand alone, as I had never heard author or of this series so thank #netgalley the author Micheal Robotham and the publisher for the advanced E-arc copy. Lying Beside You is the third outing for Cyrus Haven, a forensic psychologist whose brother Elias killed the rest of their family due to his schizophrenia. and has been in hospital for the intervening decades. Cyrus shares a house with Evie Cormac, a 21 year old refugee who has seen some terrible things and is hoping for a quiet life. She is a really interesting character with plenty of her own flaws, and the relationship between Cyrus and her is an unusual one built on tenderness and sensitivity. Cyrus is called to a crime scene where a father is dead and his daughter missing and when another woman is abducted there is only one witness Evie Comac a girl who is troubled but has the ability to tell when people are lying. So a 5 star book to savour and if you haven’t read the first two please do yourselves a favour and don’t miss those either they are all amazing. I have to live with that stain on my soul. I broke many hearts—including my own—and every day I pray to God for His forgiveness.”

I devoured Lying Beside You in two sittings. What a terrific writer and a fantastic read - pacey, spare and engrossing' AJAY CHOWDHURY If I could tell you one thing about my brother, it would be this: two days after his nineteenth birthday, he killed our parents and our twin sisters because he heard voices in his head. As defining events go, nothing else comes close for Elias, or for me. OMG if you live thrillers and puzzles this is the book for you. I haven't read any of Michael's books before but I certainly will be looking for more. With so much going on I had no idea who the suspect was or why. I did start to put some pieces together. It made the book interesting to read and I was so invested in it. This is the third book in the Cyrus Haven series but my first read and read happily as a stand alone thriller. The story is told first hand from both Cyrus’s and Evie’s POV rapidly building the pace and tension. Both Cyrus and Evie are great characters. Brilliantly written this book soon had me hooked, reading late into the night. The main storyline is masterfully interwoven with an old case some 8 years earlier. His debut thriller, The Suspect, introduced clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin and sold more than a million copies around the world, launching a nine-book series. It has been adapted into an ITV series starring Aidan Turner. Michael's standalone thriller The Secrets She Keeps has also been the basis of two BBC TV series.

If you love Lying Beside You , don't miss Cyrus and Evie in Good Girl, Bad Girl and When She Was Good . This level of detail inevitably slows down the plot, and while I love the character writing, I wish for a just a little more pace in the story. This is also new information, although I’ve noticed him dropping Bible quotes into our conversations on my fortnightly visits to Rampton. He wipes perspiration from his top lip. When a man is murdered and his daughter disappears, Cyrus is called in to profile the killer and help piece together Maya Kirk’s last hours. Police believe she was drugged and driven away from the same bar where Evie is working. Soon, a second victim is taken, and Evie is the only person who glimpsed the man behind the wheel.

As he prepares for the homecoming, Cyrus is called to a crime scene in Nottingham. A man isdead and his daughter, Maya, is missing. Then a second woman is abducted. The only witness is Evie Cormac, a troubled teenager with a gift for knowing when people are lying. I have tortured myself with what-ifs and maybes. What if I hadn’t stopped to buy hot chips on my way home from football practice? What if I hadn’t propped my bike outside Ailsa Piper’s house, hoping to glimpse her in her garden or coming home from her netball practice? What if I had pedaled faster and arrived home sooner? Could I have stopped him, or would I be dead too? A superb thriller, well plotted with plenty of twist and turns. Loved the characters and the author keeps you guessing till the end. Cyrus is a man with a troubled past. When he was 9 years old he witnessed his older brother kill his parents and twin sisters after hearing voices in his head. He is now a forensic psychologist and is summoned to a house where a father is found dead and the adult daughter missing.

But not for the obvious reasons, I haven't quite gelled with this series so far and read every new book in the hope I will fall in love. Michael Robotham is one of my favourite 'must read asap' authors, I've loved his standalones and the Joe O'Loughlin series. I couldn't wait to read this, the third in the Dr Cyrus Haven series... In the meantime Cyrus gets called out to the crime scene of a murdered man & his missing daughter.. After having read the first two previous books in the series I was so thrilled to be given the arc of this one and omg I loved every single thing about it. Cyrus is also working with the police on a case when a man is murdered and his daughter maya is missing when another woman goes missing and Evie was the last person to see her totally gripping read couldn’t put it down

Evie is determined not to let Cyrus down... again... but she is wilful and very intelligent and does not suffer fools. She also knows when someone is lying - a blessing and a curse! She starts a new job in a bar and is there when the police start to ask about Maya. Then another young woman, one she helped out, also goes missing, drawing her into the investigation as a witness. The latest instalment of the Cyrus Haven/Evie Cormac story is an excellent addition to the series . The story follows the investigation and subsequent murder of a young woman and develops into a much broader scenario. This is my first time reading a Cyrus Haven story and I must say I am impressed. Cyrus is a forensic psychologist searching for the whereabouts of maya kirk, a young nurse. Maya’s father was brutally murdered at their home, but there is no sign of maya. When another girl goes missing who has links to maya, the race is on to find the girls before it’s too late. The guy can't write a bad book. This is one of his best, suspenseful and hard to put down.” — Stephen King I couldn't figure out whodunnit, even thought Michael actually gives the readers a connection to the case pretty early on, but the main characters are not privy to this connection....so it was quite exciting reading and wondering when Cyrus would find out what we know and then obviously solve the crime for us. I have often tried to imagine what went through his mind on that cool autumn evening, when our neighbors began closing their curtains to the coming night and the streetlights shone with misty yellow halos. What did the voices say? What possible words could have made him do the things he did?
