About this deal

Placement in the home theater: the EVO 4.1 can be used as front and / or surround speakers in a home cinema application. When used as a front speakers, they must be placed at the same distance on either side of the television screen (6.5 to 13 'apart) and placed on ear height. The front speakers must be placed slightly diagonally (22 ° to 30 °) so that they are directed to the main listening space. EVO4 represents the advancement of rationally priced audiophile-grade loudspeakers. Developed in parallel with the flagship Elysian range, EVO4 shares many of the same technologies, the tonal accuracy, and superb build quality with its larger cousin – at a fraction of the cost. The resonance is quite prominent. But what is the effect of room reflections contributing up to 8 kHz but then sharply less so past that? There are some positives in the form of the passive radiator that keeps internal resonances inside the box. And decent directivity index allowing equalization.

The base model in the range is the Evo 4.1 standmount speaker, an ultra-compact 2-way bookshelf speaker with an exceptionally affordable price tag. Both bookshelf models in the series feature state-of-the-art Kevlar cone bass drivers and AMT treble drivers. The slightly larger Evo 4.2 benefits from a 3-way design and is joined by a soft-dome midrange driver. Designed for a beautifully musical performance, the Evo4 bookshelf speakers reveal gorgeous details and nuances in the music, whilst the midrange is as impressive as ever and a powerful lower end that is hard to match at this price point. EVO 4.3 and 4.4 Floorstanders Reference axis was the center of AMT driver (aligned by eye). It is getting colder with the measurement room temp at 15 degrees C.

Low frequencies are handled by Wharfedale's low-distortion motor system, coupled with woven kevlar cones to deliver powerful bass you can both hear and feel. The strong, lightweight Kevlar makes the driver both fast and powerful, delivering accurate bass that can be impressively low and loud when desired.

The Evo4.1 speakers feature a weaved Kevlar woofer, for a naturally self-damped, yet lightweight material with reduced resonances. The Evo4.1 uses 5 inch woofers, for increased clarity. The custom designed Wharfedale computer aided optimisation technology allows for fine crossover tuning, resulting in a unified driver performance. As for position, I have them on stands (spiked through carpet on concrete floor) just over a foot away from side walls and pretty much open from behind and slightly toed in towards listening position. AMT (Air Motion Transformer) Inverter: The Wharfedale EVO 4.1 Bookshelf speaker uses a specially designed 1,1875" x 2,375" AMT (Air Motion Transformer) transducer for his own silky high frequency reproduction. The design of the AMT makes it possible to move a higher air volume during implementation than with a conventional soft dome tid. This higher pressure, which is stimulated by the principles of the AMT design, offers improved HF display of point sources with lower deformation properties than conventional tweeters. This is reflected in the stunning and pure brightness of the musical performance of all EVO 4.1 bookshelf speakers.Tweeter resonance seems to also be responsible for distortion in the 2 to 4 kHz. So would have definitely been nice if that was fixed in the design.

The new EVO4 represents the dawn of a new standard in hi-fi, from Wharfedale – the most famous name in British loudspeakers. To create a full AV system, the Evo 4.C centre speaker can be paired with all loudspeaker models in the range. Naturally incorporating the signature technology used throughout the range, this centre speaker is ideal for delivering crystal clear vocals and dynamic on-screen action in home cinema settings. Each frequency is reproduced with convincing realism. Air Motion Tweeter We see a rather stepped response. Bass is shelved down, then we get to midrange that is rather flat but then there is a wide and large resonance center around 3.8 kHz. Close up measurements of the radiating surfaces shows the reason for the latter: Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. The Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter utilised in the EVO4 range is a radically different way of moving air than a conventional dome tweeter. A large, pleated lightweight diaphragm is driven across its surface by rows of strategically placed magnets. Not only is this an efficient way of moving air, but it is also very accurate as the diaphragm is under close control of the motor system at all times. The result is a wide bandwidth transducer that achieves low distortion and delivers exceptional musical detail without being “bright,” harsh, and fatiguing. The bass extension of the EVO4 is then expanded and improved by the most advanced version of the Wharfedales Signature Slot-Loaded Bassport so far. The SLPP or Slot Loaded Profiled Port is designed to extend the bass performance of the speakers using a carefully designed port in the speaker's basis, making the evo4 speakers a lot of forgiving people with their placement, where most speakers would struggle With the bass outlet, the EVO4s will still shine. Characteristics

Currently, I’m not using the Evos as my main speakers but damn…they are too good for the price. It’s hard to believe how much value you get these days. Conclusions The bass energy in the enclosure is under high pressure. In conventional port designs, when the bass waves abruptly exit into the low-pressure room, air turbulence occurs. This turbulence wastes bass and often causes annoying "chuffing" or popping sounds, sometimes referred to as port noise. Brushed metal spikes sit neatly within the plinths of the Evo 4.4s and Evo 4.2s, and all the speakers feature two sets of terminals for bi-wiring, with brushed metal straps for non-bi-wired set-ups. Bi-wiring: BI cabling can ensure noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your speakers. Enter separate speaker cables to the low and high frequency drivers of a single amplifier (the upper set of binding piles is for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding piles is for the low frequency drivers).Wharfedale Evo 4.1 Bookshelf Speakers are a 2 way standmount speaker that come with the same technologies as the 3 way Evo 4.4, 4.2, 4.2 and 4.C models. Fitted with 5" Woven Kevlar Bass Driver, and 55x80mm AMT HF driver system developed for high quality performance. Powerful Sound, Affordable Price
