About this deal

Emollients are often used to help manage dry, itchy or scaly skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and ichthyosis. It may help to apply an emollient before and after swimming. Leave enough time for it to be absorbed into your skin before you swim. Lymphoedema is chronic condition that causes swelling in the body’s tissues due to a build-up of fluid. It can occur in any part of the body, but most commonly within the arms and legs. Be careful not to slip when using emollients in a bath or shower, or on a tiled floor. Protect the floor with a non-slip mat, towel or sheet. Wear protective gloves, wash your bath or shower afterwards with hot water and washing-up liquid, then dry with a kitchen towel. Skin irritation from aqueous cream

A rare type of psoriasis where small pus-filled spots appear on top of areas of inflamed skin. It is widespread and is considered a medical emergency. + Erythrodermic psoriasis If you or your children need to use an emollient regularly, it's a good idea to keep some in small pots or tubes at home, school or work. How to use emollients How to use emollients on your skinRoughly 1 in 5 children in the UK has eczema, with most experiencing eczema for the first time before the age of 5. Most children find that their eczema improves or clears up completely as they get older. Emollin emollient spray allows the treatment of dry skin, without the need to rub fragile skin, which could otherwise result in skin tears and damage. + Lymphoedema Flare ups can be triggered by environment factors such as heat, dust, itchy material in clothing, pet dander and irritants such as soaps, detergents and other chemicals. Dry skin occurs as a result of abnormal water loss from the skin, due to a weakened skin barrier. Emollients work by forming a protective layer on the outer layer of the skin. This traps moisture within the skin, preventing TEWL (trans epidermal water loss) helping the skin barrier to repair itself.

Everyday soaps, shampoos and shower gels usually dry out the skin and can make skin conditions like eczema worse. Spray over skin lightly from roughly 10-15cm away and apply a thin even layer. Can be used at any angle. Keep fingernails short: Regularly trimming fingernails will helps to reduce the impact of scratching on the skin. The protective layer created by an emollient also helps to prevent the penetration of external irritants and allergens into the skin. + Is eczema contagious? Emollin spray makes it easy to reach areas often affected by dry skin, such as the lower legs. + Radiation Dermatitis

If your skin stings after using an emollient wash product and does not settle after rinsing, ask a pharmacist to recommend a different product. Using emollients with other skin treatments Emollients are moisturising treatments applied directly to the skin to soothe and hydrate it. They cover the skin with a protective film to trap in moisture. Research has found that in people who experience psoriasis, t-cells become overactive, leading to rapid growth of skin cells. This build-up of cells creates the tell-tale patches of skin we know as psoriatic plaques. + Where can I buy Emollin®?
