A soldier's wife died from of Phthisis Pulmonalis; another from acute dysentery. Soldier's wives were treated at the Civil Hospital and not at their regimental hospital. Assistant Surgeon Peter Lamond stated that the attention and care they received at the Civil Hospital by far exceeded that at regimental hospital where no nurses were employed.
