About this deal

Take a dry clean towel and dab the shoes to remove any excess moisture and let air dry (keeping away from direct sunlight or heaters). As the full-grain leather of the Blundstone 550 ages, it develops a patina, which is the change in color over time. This change is considered to be a desirable characteristicof the boot. Dampen a suede brush with water and put a small amount of suede and leather cleaner on it and clean the shoe, as detailed above in the ‘Cleaning Leather’ section. Because of the full-grain leather, expect the Blundstone 550 to show all its natural markings and blemishes which, in our opinion, adds character to the material.

Unlike the original series, both the 550 and 585 Classics have about 0.9mm of interior leather lining which adds comfort and keeps you warm. I like that I can dress them up with jeans and a nice sweater for a comfortable look, but still wear them with all of my warmest layers and take on a snowstorm. As seen in the pictures above, I wouldn't hesitate to wear them in the snow. The outsoles have more than enough grip to confidently traverse wet, slippery, or slushy situations in the winter. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, the fit for the Blundstone 550 is comfortable. As I said earlier, I bought these for my wife, so I’ve never worn the 550, but the 500s I own are built on the same last and have the same shape. I doubt there’s any major difference in the fit and feel. Since the Blundstone 550 and 585 are each made of different leather types, they do require different methods of care, which we will discuss below. 1. Full grain leather of Blundstone 550 Not only are the upper of both the Blundstone 550 and 585 waterproof, but the outsoles have more than enough grip to help you to navigate wet or slushy surfaces in the winter. These systems also help to encourage upstream suppliers to improve their own environmental practices. Also, with a Goodyear welt, you get a lot more water resistance, and you have the option to resole the boot in a few years time when the heel eventually wears down.

You should use a leather conditioner on your boots whenever they need them. If your boots are looking a little scuffed and worn, always remember to use a conditioner. For men, finding the right size is pretty simple—just get a full size lower than you normally would in your normal sneakers or dress shoes. Blundstones come in UK/AU sizes, which are different than US sizing. For instance, I’m a size 10.5 in US sizing, which makes me a size 9.5 in AU sizing, which Blundstone uses.I don’t think the Blundstone 550 is a bad boot. If you choose to buy them, I’m sure you’ll still get a year or two of hard wearing out of them.

Avoid exposing your boots to chemical contamination. Solvents, strong acids and alkalis will do irreparable damage on leather, whilst commonplace substances like milk and salt are also highly damaging. In the event of exposure, clean the boots immediately. The Blundstone 1615 Chelsea boots, a waxed suede finish boots in Dark Olive leather. The 1615 is an unassuming but sophisticated twist on the Original 500 Series boot. With a Water-repellent upper and strong rubber soles. The Dark Olive Suede boot is a modern twist on a timeless design. Originally the 500 Chelsea boot’s appearance and durability appealed to farmers, builders, and manual laborers who worked on their feet all day. Over time, the 500 started to become a staple for adventurers, creatives, and fashionistas all over the world. You should use a leather conditioner on your boots whenever they need them. If your boots are looking a little scuffed and worn, always remember to use a conditioner. The Blundstone Polishing Pad is an easy to apply leather conditioner. To clean the full-grain leather of Blundstone 550, first, remove any caked dirt on your boots with a soft bristled brush or a damp cloth. Once brushed, leave it to air dry while avoiding direct sunlight, which will dry out the leather. Blundstone boots are made with various materials and each one requires a different level of care. Cleaning Leather The insole in the Blundstone 550 is underwhelming—it’s a thin piece of perforated foam and has an added high density foam pad in the heel. If there are any scuffs, remove them with a gum eraser. Simply rub the scuff with the eraser and wipe away the rubber debris. If after trying on the boots you find that they are a bit big but not enough to warrant dropping down a size, you can lift up the footbed of the boots and insert a thin insole underneath. This will give a snugger fit. It's also worth bearing in mind that half sizes in Blundstones provide extra width not length so a 5.5 is the same length as a 5, just a bit wider. In practice the sole of both boots is the same, the only difference is that in the half sizes there is more leather in the upper to give a bit more room. I also like that the footbed is removable so you can add your own custom insert if you struggle with foot fatigue or any sort of pain. But there’s a lot of competition coming at them, and I think there are other choices out there that deliver better value for price. One of the best-selling Blundstone boots, the 500 design is made from quality premium leather. A classic pull-on Chelsea boot with elastic side panels to make this effortless. These lightweight boots have PU/TPU rubber outsole with removable insoles. Available in Stout Brown leather.
