About this deal

But, at the same time, he’s introduced to the audience as an undercover DEA agent who, along with his partner Dawson, is on a mission to end Asa’s antics once and for all.) The two are drawn to each other, even when they try to resist, and as secrets are revealed, their bond is intensified. Change in both of them is paramount and both characters hope to heal their emotional scars and live with less boundaries in their young lives. In the companion book Losing Hope, Colleen take the story further, but this time from the perspective of Dean, the troubled youth with secrets to reveal. I mean for real. She just had a book released yesterday that stated the same thing and from what I’ve heard so far it’s the same angsty instalovey bullcrap with some kind of rip-your-heart-out (assuming that you, unlike me, actually have a heart) plot twist (and YASSSSS of course I’ll still read the damn thing).

Here Colleen Hoover has emerged with a new story based on Sky, a high school senior who has her first romantic encounter with Dean Holder, a boy with a reputation and a mysterious past. Writing about dealing with people who have devastating pasts is very current theme for Colleen. When CoHo released this book, she suggested that this story would be a little edgier and darker than her other reads. Sloan goes up to bed with Asa, who is vomiting all over their bed. She calls for help, and Dawson and Luke help her move Asa and change the sheets. Sloan, Dawson, and Luke have a moment of pity for Asa as he sleeps. He comes from a tremendously broken family and, although a psychopath, drug addict, drug dealer, cheater, and girlfriend abuser, he is also a broken person. The title, Slammed, is a reference to poetry readings which are called “Slammings” at coffee houses and cafes where they are featured. In this story we meet Layken, an 18 year old forced into the new setting of small town Michigan after being raised in Texas.

The agents of large publishing houses are starting to take a closer look at self-publishing sales. These are indicators of trends and have led to a new category for publishers to consider, that of young adult romance fiction. Spice Level: We don’t feel we can appropriately rate the spice level of this book, given the sexual assault content. Asa uses medication to increase and decrease ankle swelling, enabling him to remove his ankle bracelet and put it on Anthony, the only friend he has working for him, and heads to Sloan and Luke’s apartment.

Add to this an important secret that threatens to keep them apart. Hoover writes with description that captivates her readers and doesn’t let go. In this story it is only through poetry that the truth is in their hearts, and the characters of Layken and Will hope for a future where their love can be a cause for celebration, not regret. Point of Retreat I liked Sloan, she was a great heroine. You see Sloan is strong, even though she didn’t think so. She wanted out of her relationship with Asa but if she leaves her brother, Steven won’t be able to receive services to help him physical and mentally. Asa is paying thousands of dollars a month to cover his expenses for treatment. She puts up with a lot from Asa from physical and mental abuse to being him in house sex slave (her term, not mine).

A psychological suspense novel of obsession and dangerous love. The definitive edition of Too Late from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Verity. I attempt to pull my hands out from beneath his, but he squeezes them tighter, reminding me that I'm nothing more than a prisoner in my own bed, and he's the warden of the bedroom. Asa has always had a way of making me feel like my body was at his disposal. He's never mean or forceful about it; he's just needy-and I find it really inconvenient. I moan and attempt to squeeze my legs together, but I can't. There's pressure everywhere. On my chest, against my cheek, between my legs. It takes me a few seconds to pull my mind out of its sleepy haze, but I'm awake enough to know what he's doing. Too Late by Colleen Hoover is the story of Sloan, a college student in a two-year codependent and abusive relationship with her boyfriend Asa, a drug dealer. I think the only option I really have left is to shoot Luke in his goddamn smug face and get Sloan out of here while I still can. Sure, she’s going to be a little traumatized. But we could go to therapy or something whenever we get settled again. She’s going to need it after being brainwashed like she was.
