Description

If you have a bony growth near the underside of your heel bone, you may have a heel spur (calcaneal spur). Heel spurs often develop when your body responds to the traction caused by your heel bone being pulled away from your plantar fascia ligament. Because the ligament doesn’t stretch, the bone will grow to ‘assist’ your ligament, resulting in a spur. Therefore, a Plantar Fasciitis heel support can help prevent heel spurs from becoming an issue in the first place. What are the symptoms, why is the pain worse in the morning or after sitting? Depending on the level of pain, impact on mobility, and duration, heel pain can range from fairly innocuous, simple fatigue to something that could turn into a long lasting injury.

Contoured to support the arch, the Trio Heel Pain Orthotics relieves stress on the arch of the foot. Usually, we sleep with our feet pointing down making these structures more prone to tightening, so night splint orthotics for plantar fasciitis are a great way combat to that. Non-weight bearing activities, such as swimming, as a great option to retain fitness levels while giving your feet rest–though in cases of something severe is not always done.

If you need support that goes beyond that of over-the-counter insoles, try a pair of custom orthotics. Similar to over-the-counter insoles, orthotics sit inside your shoes—offering padding, support, and more. But the difference is that they're customizable and sometimes prescribed by a doctor.

Cushioning: If you have a foot condition such as plantar fasciitis, look for insoles that have padding at the heel. This will help to reduce the pain you feel in your heel as the impact will be reduced. However it won’t necessarily cure the root cause of the problem (particularly for overuse injuries like plantar fasciitis, which also requires plantar fasciitis stretches and plenty of rest). Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be Designed to combat heel pain, the Trio Heel Pain Orthotics combines a convenient shape and cushioning support to relieve aching feet.

Not only are orthotic shoes quite expensive, but they’re often heavy and come in limited style options. Plantar Fasciitis and Orthotics These are not the most plush, supportive orthotics on our list, but if you have low arches, they're a great option. Heel pain can be experienced on the underside of the heel and the arch of the foot. This kind of heel pain is actually called Plantar Fasciitis and is manageable with orthotics or supportive shoe inserts. Plantar Fasciitis is the most common kind of heel pain and cause of heel spurs. The plantar fascia is the band of fibrous tissue which connects the heel bone to the toe bones. Its function is to support the arch of your foot. A normal fascia tendon is strong and flexible but abnormal stress, excessive weight, age and poor foot function can cause micro-tears which will lead to irritation and inflammation at the attachment of the plantar fascia into the calcaneus (heel bone).

While a professional doctor will best advise you, generally running can continue with some very mild conditions, but others may require rest. The main cause of heel pain is overstretching of the Plantar Fascia ligament under the foot. So why is the ligament being overstretched? There are different factors: Alex Clark, in-house physiotherapist for Neo G explains: “Some common causes for foot pain are direct trauma, foot deformity that’s either from birth or develops over time, a large increase in activity from a period of limited or no activity, poorly fitted shoes and being overweight.” To prevent the sudden sharp pain in the morning or after sitting, it is important to give the feet a little warm-up with some simple exercises. Any barefoot walking should be avoided, especially first thing in the morning. As this will cause damage to the plantar fascia tissue and diminish the effectiveness of your Plantar Fasciitis treatment. It’s unlikely that insoles will make a condition worse. With something that involves bones, such as a stress fracture, insoles won’t be enough. Pain Relief – Over the counter anti-inflammatory medication, such as ibuprofen, will temporarily manage the pain if you are experiencing acute heel pain or the stabbing sensation is prolonged.
