In September 2023 Derek Landy announced the third series of Skulduggery Pleasant. The first book of the third series will be Skulduggery Pleasant: A Mind Full of Murder and will be published on 28 March 2024. Skulduggery Pleasant won the Red House Children's Book Award, [40] the Bolton Children's Book Award [41] and the Staffordshire Young Teen Fiction Award. The Baron confronts China Sorrows in her apartment whilst Valkyrie is visiting. Valkyrie hides whilst China and Vengous talk. Vengeous reveals that he was released from prison by an assassin named Billy-Ray Sanguine who promptly arrives along with Dusk. A battle ensues during which Valkyrie reveals herself and defends China. Valkyrie Cain is soon chased by Billy-Ray Sanguine who can travel through earth and buildings. After being a struggle, Valkyrie is saved by Tanith Low. In the process, Valkyrie steals Billy-Ray Sanguine's razor, his primary weapon, leaving the psychopathic assassin with a grudge against her. I listened to this one on audiobook and very much enjoyed the switch. Rupert Degas was an excellent narrator. This is one of those series that is good to squeeze in between other heavier works. I don't love the plots so much but the characters are quite fun. But since reading the first book, the book series has climbed to 11 with number 12 coming out it 2019. Be forewarned. The skeleton is still awesome. Arrrr! The action is fast paced, the characters reveal interesting facts about themselves as the story unfolds, and readers will be hard pressed to find a more unique and surprising book. Skulduggery continues into the Caves, soon coming across Serpine, having just found the Sceptre, with a group of Hollow Men. The Sceptre starts to ring as he approaches and fights Serpine. He sets Serpine on fire and batters him, but his injuries heal themselves in seconds. Valkyrie runs out of the shadows and rams into Serpine to stop him killing Skulduggery with the Sceptre. They are forced to flee, chased by Serpine and his Hollow Men. When they are outside Gordon’s house, Tanith helps fight off the Hollow Men. Serpine destroys the Canary Car using the Sceptre. A car pulls up, with China and her assistant in the front seat, and Tanith, Valkyrie and Skulduggery jump in as the car speeds away. The fate of the world depends upon whether or not you can bring yourself to visit your relatives ..." ~ Skulduggery Pleasant” You can only anticipate what someone is going to do if you know exactly what that someone has just done.' --Skulduggery” They find the activation panel, but Foe's gang arrive. They fight, with Skulduggery defeating Mercy and Samuel and Valkyrie defeating Obloquy. Foe flees the scene when Samuel unleashes his vampire form. Ryan dismantles the machine, and Valkyrie comforts and kisses him. But then the illusion fades, and Deacon is revealed. Skulduggery tells him that he may escape, but only because Ryan was their friend.

Mr. Landy is an interesting gentleman who lets his imagination run away with him from time to time. It's my job to reign him in, to refocus his attention on the story at hand.
