It's not too big to crowd or dominate the space, and it offers an immersive watching and gaming experience. Plus, it's one of the most popular and common TV sizes out there, so you've got plenty of options to choose from. To help you find the best 65-inch TV for your living room and your budget, I've rounded up some of the overall best models on the market. Let's dive in. What is the best 65-inch TV right now? Basically, a bigger TV is often a better TV and, as mentioned earlier, these large-scale displays typically boast the best specification when it comes to new tech and useful features. The NTSC (1953) color space is introduced in 1953 by the FCC with the appearance of color television and has a wider gamut than the sRGB. If you're in the market for a new TV, you'll want to consider a few factors before you spend your money. Our TV buying guide breaks down the fine details of what features matter and what distinguishes a great TV from one that's just okay. For a 65-inch set we strongly recommend going with 4K resolution. There are a few older 1080p models still available, but they simply aren't a good value today. And while 8K TVs are hitting the market in the 65-inch size, it will still be some time before 8K resolution gets mainstream support. Features: For the best picture, we recommend getting a set that offers high dynamic range (HDR) support. HDR10 is the base standard, while Dolby Vision is a higher-caliber format, and we recommend opting for Dolby Vision support when you have the choice.
The gaming features and performance of the LG G3 are also impressive. All of this comes at a huge premium, and 65-inches is a size where 8K is overkill unless you're sitting close. While the TV is superb, it carries with it a serious price tag that overshadows even premium OLEDs at larger sizes. While it is a phenomenal TV, it's only for those with a serious budget. Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. The EQ3 runs the Android 11 operating system and supports the HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG High Dynamic Range formats. It sports a full aluminium frameless design, includes a Harman Kardon sound system and there’s support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, with the latter being something of a rarity on a TV.
Due to availability issues, we replaced the LG C2 OLED with the LG C3 OLED as our 'Best Upper Mid-Range 65-Inch TV'. Furthermore, the newer Sony A95L OLED replaced the Sony A95K OLED. It's safe to say a lot of TVs nowadays don't have the most dynamic sound, instead focusing on an improved picture. Also, with TV's getting slimmer, manufacturers are having to squeeze in speakers into more smaller spaces. Sony is one brand that is striving to make sure its TVs provide excellent quality sound and the Sony A80L is certainly no exception. Not only does this TV perform well, but it’s worth mentioning that it looks great. It has a slim design, thin bezel and a solid hexagonal plate stand, the QN90C has strong visual appeal. There’s also Ambient Mode, a Samsung feature that displays artwork and photos in low-power mode. If you want to enhance your home theater setup with a surround sound system, you'll also be happy to know it supports audio passthrough for all common formats. It runs the Google TV interface with a sleek look and an easy-to-use menu. It has a massive selection of streaming apps, and the TV's built-in mic supports hands-free voice control, so you can easily find your favorite streaming shows, even when you can't find the remote. If you want a Sony TV for the best home theater experience but find the A95L too expensive, consider the Sony A80L/A80CL OLED. It's a step down in overall brightness and color vibrancy due to its WOLED panel. However, it's still an amazing TV, with great processing and advanced audio and video format support. Our testing measures contrast and maximum brightness, as well as lag time. Still, it's a great TV for gaming, as it has superbly low input lag and variable refresh rate support for a responsive, nearly tear-free gaming experience. While it has a lower 60Hz refresh rate than the 120Hz on the U8K, it's still a great gaming TV with a fast response time, low input lag, and variable refresh rate (VRR) support that works well with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The Samsung QN90C/QN90CD QLED is a great TV. It's brighter than the Sony X93L/X93CL, making it more vibrant in a bright room. However, the Sony is the better TV overall, with much better image processing, Dolby Vision HDR support, advanced DTS audio formats, and a slighter lower response time. Next up is the XLED 1000 Mini LED, which includes 1000 dimming zones.It also features a 144Hz refresh rate, the new platform, Quantum Dot colour support and runs the Google TV interface. Like the XLED 2000, it also has an integrated sound system by Harman Kardon. XLED 300Mini LED Features like HDR support, Dolby Vision and Atmos, OLED panels and the like can be real differentiators, too, when it comes to finding the 65-inch 4K TV with the best viewing experience, though it’s no surprise that the more of these extras a display has, the more expensive it tends to be. What is 4K resolution? But you'll also want to look into more advanced features, like smart home control, video conferencing capability, and other features that may be brand exclusive, or at least unevenly distributed between premium and budget sets. There are various panel technologies. Each has its own specific features - viewing angles, color reproduction, response time, brightness/contrast, production cost, etc. The image quality depends directly on the type of the display panel used.
We were given the opportunity to get a first-hand look at all the TVs launching in 2022 and 2023. Here’s what we gleaned about the new features and availability. New TVs for 2022 and 2023 Using a technology called 'Surface Audio+', the A80L enables sound to travel through the screen to create more direct, powerful audio. It also does an excellent job of processing Dolby Atmos effects to create a more immersive experience. We said in our review that "sound feels connected to the action on screen", which makes the audio experience more dynamic. The speakers can also be pushed without distorting too much. A degree of expectation management is required when it comes to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, because while the EQ3 can decode both, it only has two speakers and thus the sense of immersion is created using psychoacoustic processing. As a result, while the audio has a greater feeling of presence, it can’t compete with a soundbar using upward- and side-firing drivers.
