About this deal

This series had me hooked right from the start. The characters were likable, and felt real. Characters had real motivations, and I was with the characters through their ups and downs. The main character is an underdog, in more ways than one, and I was rooting for him the whole time, hoping he could defeat all odds thrown his way. I wasn’t sure I would like this Young Adult fantasy novel. It seemed like a thorough boys book and I went into it with much (girlish) trepidation . . . but by the end of the third chapter, I was hooked. I can't tell you enough how wonderful this book is and what an amazing addition to the fantasy genre! I am more than thrilled that Curtis Jobling started writing and I will be keeping an eye on his future books from now on.

Meanwhile, Hector the Wereboar flees the forces of the Catlords on the pirate ship Maelstrom. With the enemy's net closing in and haunted by the spirits of the dead, Hector is left wondering who the true enemy is . . . This epic book of fantasy contains events of such that are constant but changing. The unexpected happen, a whole lot of fighting involved as Drew faces his battles. Others are there that join him and the story carries along with the many spins and turns that are to come.Outliving One's Offspring: Duke Manfred outlives his youngest son Milo, while Duke Brand losses his son Dorn. Even worse, Duke Bergan outlives both his children. Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Count Vega and Lady Opal can't stand each other after the former threatens the latter's children. Be warned, reader. I will try my hardest not to include any spoilers about Shadow of the Hawk in this review, but I cannot promise the same about the previous two books in the series. If you have not yet read them then you may want to look away now.

Drew is an ordinary shepard's son, until a horrifying creature bursts into his home and savagely murders his mother-and Drew transforms into a beast himself. The genre of the book is fantasy, as it does involve magic and werewolf. My overall opinion on the book was would be an 8/10. I thought it deserved at least a 6 when I started the book, but as I progressed through the book, it got better. Wily Walrus: Slotha the Werewalrus is a huge and savage woman who rules the barbarian Ugri tribes of the north. The animal snarled a grin, leaning in towards her and mouthing a single word as it opened its mouth. The protagonist, Drew, is a character that’s empowered with strength, power and a whole lot of ability. There are many qualities I love however, the main thing I really love how he is extremely determined to do anything.

Drew and Hector enter Vala's lair and find Gretchen bound and gagged by vines. However, they also encounter Vala, who turns out to be a wereserpent. After a fierce battle, Drew greatly wounds Vala and frees Gretchen but gets poisoned by Vala's venom and passes out. Gretchen also faints from her injuries, leaving Hector alone in the wilderness. Fast-paced and suspenseful, this is a good option for those looking for a new adventure fantasy series to get hooked into.
