About this deal

The Lumix TZ80 / ZS60 retains the TZ70 / ZS50’s built-in 1166k dot electronic viewfinder which also features on the higher-end Lumix TZ100 / ZS100. An eye-sensor and a button for toggling between the viewfinder and the screen which doubles up as Fn4 works in the same way as other recent Lumix models with three options – viewfinder, screen or eye sensor, the latter activating the viewfinder when you put your eye to it and the screen at all other times. Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [MP4] in [FHD] [HD] [VGA] is 29 minutes 59 seconds or up to 4 GB. The TZ80 has a more advanced JPEG engine that offers fine control of in-camera image processing parameters so you can bring things in line with your own image quality preferences and better handle challenging shooting conditions. There’s three options: Burst (which records video while the shutter button is pressed), Burst S / S (which starts recording with one press and stops with another), and 4K Pre-burst (which keeps a rolling buffer to avoid unwieldy clips to store and go through). Mostly I used the Burst mod

Axis HYBRID O.I.S. +*/* 5-Axis compensation works in video recording except for 4K video or high-speed video recording. Maximum time to record motion pictures continuously with [AVCHD] in [FHD/50fps] is 29 minutes 59 seconds.Max. 4x (When Digital Zoom is used simultaneously with Intelligent Zoom, you can only increase the zoom ratio up to 2x.) The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ80 offers a Macro setting that allows you to focus on a subject that is 3cms away from the camera when the lens is set to wide-angle. The first image shows how close you can get to the subject (in this case a compact flash card). The second image is a 100% crop. By viewing full size sample images you can see (prior to purchasing) if the camera's image quality is acceptable for your preferences/ usage. x 720 pixels, 25p (HD: MP4) (Sensor Output is 100fps)/640 x 480 pixels, 25p (VGA: MP4) (Sensor Output is 200fps) If within your budget IMHO for a "family" compact/ general purpose camera the ZS100 a overall better camera for overall better image quality than TZ70, TZ80, or HX90 camera with the small 1/2.3" sensor and lens' slow F3.3-6.4 max aperture lens. Also the ZS100 built-in flash much better than the tiny flash on the TZ70.

Maximum time to record High Speed motion pictures continuously with [MP4] in [HD] is 7 minutes 29 seconds. The TZ80 / ZS60’s combined battery and card compartment is accessed via a door in the base – note it’s not possible to change the card or battery when the camera is mounted on a tripod. The BLG10E battery provides enough power on a full charge for 320 shots using the screen exclusively or 280 shots with the EVF so, in practice, probably somewhere between the two. That’s a little better than the 250 shots you’ll get with the Canon PowerShot SX720 HS, but the SX720 HS’s Eco energy saving mode extends that to a more generous 355 shots. Anayv's ZS60 images are much better than the sample ZS60 JPG images posted by DPR. Even the 80 ISO images ( HERE ) fine details were being smeared by the default JPG settings; definitely not encouraging endorsement for the ZS60's IQ.The 4K Photo mode is great for capturing the perfect moment when faced with fast action, but it’s also surprisingly useful for portraits, especially of kids, where an expression can change between frames.

Moving on, the Lumix TZ90 / ZS70 records 1080p at up to 28Mbit/s in AVCHD or MP4 modes. In addition to 1080p50/60, the MP4 modes are 1080p25/30 and 720p25/30. The earlier 640x480p25/30 modes are no longer available.

Yes, this is frequently said. But remember, it's possible to process JPEGs also. It is a rare photo on a small sensor camera where adjusting the JPEG is significantly inferior to adjusting a RAW. .. have you worked with full HD videos? 4k videos are bigger and take more computing power to process. they do look better if you watch on a larger HD TV, but for many people i suspect they're just a selling point. x 1080 pixels, 50p (FHD: 28Mbps / AVCHD) (Sensor Output is 50fps) (Dolby)/1920 x 1080 pixels, 50i (FHD: 24Mbps / AVCHD) (Sensor Output is 25fps) (Dolby)/1920 x 1080 pixels, 50i (FHD: 17Mbps / AVCHD) (Sensor Output is 50fps) (Dolby)/1920 x 1080 pixels, 50p (FHD: 28Mbps / MP4) (Sensor Output is 50fps) (AAC)/1920 x 1080 pixels, 25p (FHD: 20Mbps / MP4) (Sensor Output is 25fps) (AAC)/1280 x 720 pixels, 25p (HD: 10Mbps / MP4) (Sensor Output is 25fps) (AAC) There's quite a few creative options afford to you when using the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ80. You can switch to the dedicated creative mode, but you can also use one of the several inbuilt filters when shooting in one of the manual or semi-automatic modes. The bonus here being that shooting in raw format gives you a “clean” version of the image should you need it down the line. You can also the less dramatic Picture Modes, such as Vivid and Monochrome, to give your shots a different look. There's also a panorama mode, which enables you to create super wide angle shots by moving the camera across the view that you're trying to capture. All of the sample images in this review were taken using the 18 megapixel Fine JPEG setting, which gives an average image size of around 6Mb.
