I read a lot of books on addiction and recovery and I mean I read A LOT of them and thoroughly zipped through this one. Author Riley J. Ford has crafted a well-rounded story around Mike. She has crafted the book in a way that brings the story down to earth. Many celebrity books always have this ‘talking down’ way of being written where they sit atop a pedestal and preach their success. Certainly not here. Kane Hodder’s book Unmasked was one of the first books that totally hooked me from start to finish. A bullied kid who always wanted to be a stuntman who got horribly burned to the point of death who recovered and became a horror movie legend.

Mike Majlak (the author) struggled with addiction in his early life. For10 yearsas a drug addict, he faced multiple near-death experiences and waslet go byfamily and friends. The story begins in high school, where his addiction started, and continues through the journey of the effects on his life. It ends with how he turned his life around and is now amajor influencer. Mike Majlak was a seventeen-year-old from a loving, middle-class family in Milford, Connecticut, when he got caught up in the opioid epidemic that swept the nation. For close to a decade thereafter, his life was a wasteland of darkness and despair. They weren’t fans of Mike’s but had an idea of who he was through association, they simply named Mike ‘ Logan’s assistant’ which annoyed me. As a teenager Mike got caught up in the opioid epidemic that swept America. For nearly 10 years he struggled with drug addiction and many other issues. He eventually had no one left to believe in him except his mom. While all his friends were starting lives of their own, getting married, having kids, exceeding in life, Mike was basically at the lowest point he could go, living on the streets, with little to no money at the end of a very dark tunnel with a small light at the end of it. The story is very exciting and is told with many remarkable stories that leave you wondering after how he made it out of all these situations alive. Mike discusses his early life, including his youth and adolescence, and how he came to be addicted to drugs and alcohol.

I don’t really follow vloggers or social media influencers I’m just kinda doing my own thing over here but I was here, at home in my isolated state when I decided to watch some YouTubers one day. Unable to escape the noose of addiction, he eventually lost the trust and support of everyone who had ever loved him. While his peers were graduating from college, buying homes, getting married, having kids, and leading normal lives, Mike was snorting OxyContin, climbing out of cars at gunpoint, and burying his childhood friends. How long has The Fifth Vital been in the making? I started writing the book in 2012. I know it’s crazy to imagine that almost eight years of work has gone into the book. I then met my writing partner Riley in 2019, and we worked hard to get the book over the finish line in six months to become what it is today. So it’s been quite a long journey. It’s well worth a read. Knowing that no matter your upbringing or your situation you and you alone can change that. Your mentality and perseverance is put to the test to see you grow as a person and to further your ambitions.

Which Mike Majlak books have you read, and what do you make of them? Within this video was Mike Majlak. Mike always seemed to come across as the wise one, the guy with his head screwed on. The older guy in the group who has the experience and the know-how to guide this crazy train of fame whilst maintaining a level-head. downstairs to help him. That was the lowest point of my life and a regret I’ll have forever. It was also a turning point when I knew I couldn’t continue on this path any longer.

I have never understood why "influencers' are given such power. Its all a bit silly and I will never understand their "importance", these people that become celebrities because they put videos and tweets on social media. Yes, social media is important, I would not be able to write this review without it, but I certainly don't expect loads and loads of people to suddenly decide my every word is gold.
