About this deal

It is always best to use the engine manufacturer’s advice. If engine contains yellow metals [copper and brass as in older vehicles] then the long life products based on organic technology should not be used. As a general rule, most modern engines require the long life organic antifreezes.

As we know, not all engine coolant is identical. Different cars require different formulas with different colors to meet the manufacturer’s specifications. However, once you determine which formula you need, you can choose whichever brand you’d like. Genuine Mercedes coolant is one of the best ways to go as it is the exact stuff dealerships and the factory uses in brand new examples. We offer the latest specification stuff in its concentrated form in a gallon jug. Rowe provides a concentrated gallon of the older 325.0-spec coolant for use in the older engines if you’re looking for a non-Mercedes brand. Otherwise, you can use the official stuff found here. Propylene Glycol, on the other hand, is a less toxic and safer alternative. It also has good heat transfer properties, but it has a lower boiling point than Ethylene Glycol. As well as lowering the freezing point, it also raises the boiling point of engine coolant. Along with a pressurised system, this helps to reduce the risk of overheating. is the pre-mixed version of 325.0 (G05). But for some reason, the Zerex G05 pre-mix is not mentioned. 326.6 is pre-mix version of 325.6 but bevo doesn't even mention an MB product for this spec. Premix is, I guess, a safe way of ensuring water quality if you live in an area with poor water quality. Performing a coolant flush on your Mercedes-Benz requires expertise and tools beyond regular vehicle maintenance tasks. Attempting such a task at home without professional experience can result in significant risks for yourself, your vehicle, and the environment. We strongly advise against this procedure at home to avoid such risks.

Which Coolant Does My Mercedes Take?

To help clear some of the confusion up on the more technical details of antifreeze and coolants we enlisted the help of Martyn Mann – Technical Director, Millers Oils UK - who has provided the information below. At South Coast Garage, we have a team of experienced professionals who can provide you with reliable and high-quality service to meet or exceed dealership standards. Our service employs only the best coolant, ensuring optimal results for your Mercedes-Benz while preserving your manufacturer’s warranty.

Soo the 10% more atifreeze to the ratio here is not necessarily in my favor? I can see the logic, Nobby pointed out he uses distilled water instead of your average H20 (lets say from tap). Is this because we don't know how much other stuff that is possibly harmful to seals and the WP like sulfur or sodium deposits? Imagine if somebody uses water from a water softener. Would be completely diffrent. Yes i took the time to flush twice when my rad started leaking, before i pulled it out. Understanding the role of coolant in your Mercedes engine can help you appreciate the importance of keeping the system in optimal condition. Antifreeze is a clever liquid that plays an important role in keeping your car's engine in good health. But for it to work as it should, you need to use the right kind in the right concentration.Traditional or 'standard' coolants for systems with aluminium components use silicates for corrosion protection and these tend to 'drop out' over time hence 2 year service life. Some manufacturers switched to OAT as it lasts longer and some engines don't like the stuff- one/some of the corrosion inhibitors in certain types/brands can soften some plastics over time... dexcool is one of the usual suspects associated with this, specifically the inhibitor 2-EHA So, there we go. Hopefully this information has been useful, if you have any further questions not covered here please ask and I will try to get the answer. Modern car cooling systems are smaller, with higher operating temperatures and pressures than in the past. That means it's especially important to use the correct additive.

Both the Ford and Chrysler owner's manuals do not recommend using unapproved extended life products such as DEX-COOL or equivalents in their vehicles and state that improper maintenance may invalidate the warranty of the cooling system. In addition, many vehicles are not designed for DEX-COOL or equivalent organic acid, extended life coolants. For example DaimlerChrysler is reported to have experienced solder corrosion issues in heater cores with some DEX-COOL type fluids. While one can use Zerex G-05 in a GM vehicle, Valvoline recommends that you use as GM DEX-COOL approved formula in a GM vehicle under warranty. Antifreeze is a liquid that's added to a car's engine cooling system. It stops the water from freezing under normal cold weather conditions. The coolant MB supply is typically G48 or G05 both of which are HOAT. G48 can be green, blue or various bluey greens/greeny blues depending on brand. G05 is typically dyed yellow/amber. Most commercial antifreeze formulations include a glycol (to suppress the freezing point and raise the boiling point), corrosion inhibiting compounds and a coloured dye (commonly orange, green, red, or blue fluorescent) to aid in identification. A 1:1 dilution with water is usually used, resulting in a freezing point in the range of minus 37 °C to minus 42 °C, depending on the formulation. Maintaining your Mercedes coolant system will protect your engine from damage, avoid overheating, and ensure optimal performance. Trust our expert Mercedes specialists to keep your vehicle’s cooling system in top condition. However, you should avoid mixing different types of coolant as it could make the corrosion inhibitors less effective.
