If you are specifically hoping to organize your living space, the Epson LabelWorks PX 300 Label Maker is a superb choice. As we tested, we noticed there are several preloaded fonts, and it also allows you to add customizable text styles, icons, and banners. (Plus, it comes with a lifetime warranty!) The problem with USB is that the labeler must always be tethered to another device, making it more difficult to move the printer around. In addition, printing devices that connect solely via USB generally limit you to printing from only the one PC they're connected to, unless you take the time to set up something to act as a print server. (You can set Windows, for example, to share any USB-connected printer, so other PCs on the network can use it.) The 100-sheet paper tray, duplex printing, scan, and copy are all handy features. So, this printer meets all your office needs as well. It also comes with a generous two-year warranty. So, you can feel confident investing a little more into this printer. Our best overall is the Dymo LabelManager 280 Label Maker. It's a high-quality, handheld label maker with a full QWERTY-style keyboard, rechargeable battery, and customization options. For our best budget option, we recommend the Dymo Organizer Xpress Pro. It's a user-friendly embossing labeler with rotary-style lettering, offering a lot at a very agreeable price tag. Besides supporting print via Wi-Fi and USB the PRO-100S also can print directly from cloud-based and online photo storage services such Facebook, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive via PIXMA Cloud Link. Speaking of the performance on the Brother MFC-J895DW, the scanning quality on the device is pretty impressive with the automatic document feeder feature. However, there is no duplex scanning functionality on this. You can achieve this in two ways: by configuring the wireless network using a PC utility software or by using the WPS method to directly get it connected. As the network setup using the utility software is pretty much self-explanatory, I will be guiding you with the WPS method. When we tested the previous version, we gave it high marks for going above and beyond the basic functionality of some of its peers, and we're glad to see that Brother has offered even more in its next iteration. If you need more than one type of label, you'll need to also guess how much of each type you'll use. But the basic approach remains the same. This Brother printer offers versatile connectivity options. You can use the wireless and cloud capability to print from your phone, or you can connect via USB. It has an LCD display that is easy to use but a little small at just 1.8 inches.If you have a very small home or office setup, this also may not be the printer for you. At 52 lb (24kg), it probably would take two people to install it and move it around if necessary. One thing I didn’t like about the design is that the power cord isn’t detachable. Replacement of the same is a hassle in the event of damage. The display console on the Brother MFC-J895DW is very intuitive. It measures about 2.6” diagonally and can tilt for a better viewing angle. Speaking of the scanner on this device, it is a flatbed with a bed size of 8.5″ x 11″ and can produce quality scans up to 1200 DPI. Connectivity – You used to have to connect your computer to your laptop via USB to print. And while you can still do that on most models, there are many more options these days. Print quality: The printer does exceptionally well in terms of print quality. It comes with a 35-sheet auto document feeder function. However, there is no support for auto-duplexing. The device has an 8.5” x 11” flatbed scanner towards the top, which can perform optical scans at a resolution of 1200 DPI and a color depth of 24-bit. But the bummer is, you don’t get to see the automatic document feeder or duplex scanning functionalities. Connectivity –
And then there's some options, like the Dymo LabelManager 280 (our best overall), that can work as a standalone gadget or when connected to a computer or phone. Our advice? Go with the device that has the features and functionality that are most important to you, regardless of its label (pun intended). If you want an easy label making experience, then you can do far worse than the Brother P-touch CUBE series. We've deliberately selected the "Plus" model for review here as it can print on up to 1 inch (0.24 cm) tape whereas the regular Cube can only handle half that size. If you want to be more original, there are 25 pre-set label templates, as well as a selection of 14 fonts, 11 font styles, 99 frames and over 600 symbols. We are not impressed by its design aesthetics, but considering the price, it is acceptable. The material quality is decent and seems to last. As it only measures 13.07 x 16.85 x 7.87 inches, it is a decent fit for most workspaces with less real estate. Setup: First, assembly of each label maker was completed. We timed how long it took to take the product out of the box and prepare it for use, and recorded how useful and detailed the included instructions were.
