About this deal

The characters are decently fleshed out, but the inter-character conflict leaves something to be desired. However, the central conflict more than makes up for this, as it is surprisingly nuanced and thought-provoking. I found myself invested in the outcome of the conflict and rooting for the characters to succeed in spite of insurmountable odds. Auf den Manga kann ich das Zitat leider nicht beziehen, jedenfalls fehlte mir hier jeglicher Witz, sollte es diesen gegeben haben. Das wäre wenigstens ein kleiner Trost gewesen. Shibuya Goldfish is a manga that should not be overlooked. DO not underestimate the terror of creatures when expanded to larger then human form. I've learned that now, especially when fish and other sea creatures already look natural at their normal size. If you like horror that should not make sense you'll love this series. Defanitly going to read this creators other works. The series is written and illustrated by Hiroumi Aoi, and began serialization in Gangan Joker on September 21, 2016. [2] In November 2019, it was revealed the series would enter its final arc after a one-month break. [3] The series ended in Gangan Joker on April 22, 2021. [4] The series individual chapters were collected into eleven tankōbon volumes. [5] I'll be honest, I don't know exactly how I feel about this one. I waffled between giving it 3 or 4 stars for quiet awhile but finally decided on 4 because it truly is a rather unique and strange tale.

I'm three volumes in, and this is a great "turn your brain off and let the bizarre story wash over you" kind of read. Easy to follow, not a lot of plot, just "survive the giant goldfish who now fly through the air and hunger for human flesh." That's it; that's the manga! Nothing more, nothing less. The series centers on Hajime Tsukiyoda, a high school film student who finds himself in the middle of a terrifying event where giant goldfish suddenly descend on the populace of Shibuya and begin feeding on people. Hajime meets with popular classmate Fukakusa whom he immediately crushes on and tries to save. However, she is revealed to be deranged and unsympathetic to his plight and, in an effort to have him "sacrifice" himself, ends up getting killed by the goldfish. Hajime tries to kill himself by jumping from a building, but ends up killing several goldfish on the way down and survives. He is soon rescued by several survivors who inform him that a giant glass bowl has been placed over Shibuya and now they must try to escape. Even more silly, and really distracting, was the fact the goldfish talked. Not sure if they truly talked, or it was just mind stuff, but there is just something truly hilarious about a goldfish who talks. Especially when those words are Mommy, I am home, Hello, Don’t Leave, and others. There were times I was probably supposed to feel utterly horrified by things happening, but then a goldfish would talk and I would roll around laughing. And then there's the plot. I liked the idea of goldfish being the villains. But somehow the goldfish doesn't become the main focus, the main focus is the boring, generic mc being around boring, generic girls, so having goldfish flying in the air while cute anime girls blush at the mc accidentally showing him their panties and some occasional gory scenes just feel strange. Who even is the demographic for this comic? These goldfish float through air. At first, people mistook them for a VR installation. These fish also mumble single words like "Hungry" and "Yummy" and "Mommy".

Why was this so bad? The plot is so crazy and weird and could have been enjoyable if done properly. A manga about an apocalypse with giant, flying goldfish sounds so unique, but everything is alright, the intercharacter conflict is crap, the main conflict is pretty good and the art HAS NO RIGHT LOOKING SO GOOD. HOLY SHIT THIS ART IS WAY TOO GOOD FOR SUCH AN INSANE PREMISE. I should not feel that I'm reading Cuthulu's Call of the Deep (or whatever its name is).

Am Anfang des Bandes würde ein sehr schönes Zitat genannt „Das Leben ist eine Tragödie, wenn man es aus der Nähe betrachtet. Von Ferne gesehen ist es eine Komödie.“ — Charlie Chaplin Do you ever just get mad at yourself for only being really good at drawing one thing, like goldfish for example? Well have I got an idea for you! I recently had the pleasure of revisiting Shibuya Goldfish, and I must say, it still managed to impress me. Its worth a read, but not in the traditional sense. No, in the batshit balls-to-the-walls garbage dumpster gigguk fantasy sense. Honestly, the storyThis is a tangent, so read it if you want. I wish that more mangaka would try their hand at traditional horror. Of course I love psychological horror, but some of that logic and intrigue is always lost in translation. Other than Berzerk I can't remember any truly hair-raising horror manga. So when I saw this mangaka's art I was equally impressed and insenced that he's using his potential on a shitpoast of a manga. Mateo, Alex (March 22, 2021). "Shibuya Goldfish Manga Ends on April 22". Anime News Network . Retrieved August 28, 2021. There's a quote at the beginning of this about how life is a horror in the short term, but a comedy in the long run. As I result, I expected this to be a horror comedy, since this is a book with a real silly premise (giant goldfish eating people). Instead what I got was a pretty bland zombie apocalypse story without zombies. Je remercie les éditions Pika pour cette lecture. J’étais vraiment très impatiente de recevoir les deux premiers tomes de cette saga, car le résumé me tentait beaucoup ! Je ne suis pas très horreur, mais en manga, cela me gêne moins, vu que c’est en noir et blanc ! 😉 Remember your cute goldfish? You probably gave it some cute name, like Goldie. Well, Goldie has just gone berserk. Watch your limbs. Goldie may just chew off a few of those. :P

When I finished reading Gyo I thought that would be the end of my adventures with killer fish causing havoc on land but no, I found a new one. And this time they not only fly but they can talk too. You read that right, a horror manga about flying, talking fish soaring around Japan eating people. Well, Gyo left an impression (and several images that will be burned into my brain forever), so I thought hell yeah, give me more monster fish! In another instance, our hero's getaway car almost crashes into a utility pole. The pole looks like a totem of partially digested human heads. Cue a character screaming "GOLDFISH POOP!" in absolute terror. Cue a wider view of the road littered by these "poles".

Shibuya Goldfish ( Japanese: 渋谷金魚, Hepburn: Shibuya Kingyo) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroumi Aoi. It was serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Joker from September 2016 to April 2021 and published in 11 volumes. He was a pretty decent dude at times, he showed he had plenty of balls and brain, but, I just got tired of his whining. SHIBUYA GOLDFISH IN A NUTSHELL: This series is High School of the Dead but with flying goldfish instead of zombies (and a little less fanservice). I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to try to make goldfish scary, but they messed up. I don't think it's possible to make goldfish scary, honestly. No matter how hard this book tries, I just can't take it seriously. If it were a horror comedy, that'd be fine, but seeing as how there aren't really any jokes (at least, not any funny ones), it fails tremendously as a horror idea. Honestly, if they had just made the monsters something other than goldfish, half of this book's problems would go away. Hodgkins, Crystalyn (January 23, 2021).
