About this deal

If Budakh is killed first, Rumata becomes enraged. They will move faster, swing their sword more often and will form a fiery ring around them after their cool down. Before getting into Sea Salt and Paper's mechanics, I just want to give some praise to its production. The cards are fine as far as the physical cards go (they feel good and sound great, but they're not really resistant to riffle shuffling), but I am absolutely in love with the game's aesthetic. The origami figures are adorable and lovingly made (especially the light blue newspaper boats and the yellow boats that inexplicably have legs) and care has gone into developing a system of icons that allow people who are colourblind to engage with a game that so heavily features colour. It makes it so that the game is appealing, inviting and easy to put in front of people; all people I've shown the game to have been excited to play solely because the game looks fantastic. If the player who declared last chance has the most points, they not only score their card points, but they also get a colour bonus, scoring one additional point for each of their most copious colour.

Perfect for family game nights, gatherings with friends, or even solo play, the game accommodates 2-4 players, ages 10 and up. Its versatile gameplay ensures that every session is a new adventure, ensuring countless hours of enjoyment. Each card scores points in different ways, most of which come down to forming some kind of matching set. For instance, pairs of crabs, boats and fish, sets of sharks and swimmers - an unfortunate but profitable pairing - and runs of shells, octopuses, penguins and sailors that score depending on how many you have in the set. (In a slightly confusing visual disparity, the number of origami models on a card doesn’t match its value.) Other cards add bonus modifiers for specific types of cards - lighthouses for boats, captains for sailors and so on. Adding to the sharp competitive gameplay is the option to reveal ‘duo’ cards on your turn, which activate specific effects at the cost of being revealed to your opponents. The abilities allow you to steal cards from rivals, draw extra cards and even take another turn, so they are powerful enough to be tempting - and their points remain, albeit now revealed to your opponents as they secretly work out how their own score compares based on the fragment of information they have. If the caller has the highest (or equal highest) card score they score those points plus their color bonus. Other players score only their own color bonus. I really enjoy this game and it has been popular among my friends as well. I suggest you give it a go yourself and see where Sea Salt & Paper takes you. Useful Links

Sea Salt & Paper est vraiment fun, et surprenant, car on essaie de prévoir le moment où et quand l’adversaire va (ré)agir et parfois, souvent, on se plante. I’ll talk about how you end a round and score in a moment, but first, let’s look at those cards some more. Origami Art? Are You Squidding Me? Swordsmen and dogs are a challenge to deal with, especially when grouped up. Learn to dodge them better if needing to do so.Alternatively, they can declare “last chance” which gives each other player one more turn, after which scores are counted up and compared. If the person who declared last chance does not have the most points, that player only scores their colour bonus, while all other players score their normal card points. You’ll play over a number of rounds that can end once any player hits seven points, but exactly when that round ends is entirely up to you as players. For the arenas with the church, its best to just go in for the kill, I found this tactic very effective with the horde idea listed above, with a few creatures and spitters, the church can go down in seconds, and with the hermit and drowned, this can protect you while you shred down the church.

Some cards add additional ways to score - and in the case of the mermaids, you instantly win if you play all four. If you decide to gamble, you reveal your entire hand and publicly declare your point total. Every other player gets one more turn to try and beat your score. If they do, you score only a ‘colour bonus’– one point for the largest number of identical colours in your hand, while the other victorious players score all their cards. He will pause, then raise his sword high in the air causing lightning to strike. Then green ritual circles will appear, becoming brighter and brighter before zombie arms begin slashing minions that are in the circle. After drawing and discarding, the player can choose to play a matched pair in front of them into their tableau.
