About this deal

Assembling this kit also offers options for posing the weapons. One option presents the weapons positioned alongside Mortarion, creating a more measured and restrained stance. In contrast, the other option showcases a highly aggressive pose, emphasizing the Crawler’s offensive capabilities and ferocity on the battlefield. What’s in the Plagueburst Crawler box If you’re taking a unit of ten plague marines, you’ll typically want to give them one or two characters for support. Varnish with gloss coatThis is a very important detail and will help with our next step. Make sure you give the varnish about 24 hours to fully cure. I’ve been told to do this by the research I’ve done (i.e. YouTube videos I’ve watched) and while I don’t know the magic number of hours needed to cure, I do know that I’ve never had an issue waiting 24 hours. I used Testors for this, again. Basecoat and highlightsOnce the hairspray is dry, you’re free to start applying your base coats and highlights. Since this is a 30k-scheme Death Guard Plagueburst Crawler, I’ll be using Menoth White and Menoth White Highlight, which are amazing go-to colors for any sort of cream, bone, or warm white in your life.

This is also an area where the Rattlejoint Ague (-1 to saves) comes in handy – the added save reduction from things like plague belchers and plaguespurt gauntlets can be incredibly nasty against targets who’d otherwise rely on cover or be able to shrug off half the wounds with a 4+ save. It’s also handy against 2+ saves in cover, as worsening their save puts them on a 3+ and unable to claim the benefit of cover against an AP0 weapon.

Blood Reaper • Blood Slaughterer • Blood Throne of Khorne • Brass Scorpion • Cauldron of Blood • Death Dealer • Doom Blaster • Kytan • Lord of Battles • Lord of Skulls • Skull Cannon of Khorne • Tower of Skulls The Death Guard are never happier than when spreading Father Nurgle’s blessings and, with Nurgle’s Rot, you can gift them to multiple enemy units at once. The Thousand Sons, meanwhile, will be taking advantage of their psychic mastery to destroy their enemies with blasts of sorcerous witchfire.

Plagueburst Crawlers are a type of heavy Daemon Engine of Nurgle used by the Death Guard. [1] Overview Not surprised by all the PBC love, it’s a great offensive unit and fills a vital roll in our army for which we do not have many options. If I may play Devils (or should I say Deamon’s) Advocate, I have a serious issue with the PBC; its keywords. The PBC is a Deamon Engine. However, unlike all other Chaos legion Deamon Engines, including our own, it does not have a melee weapon or improved WS. In this regard, the PBC a Ranged only threat, whereas all other Deamon Engines are multi-threat.On the subject of Deathshroud, we can’t skip over Typhus any longer. He’s a big, nasty Terminator character but most importantly his ability to throw out D6 mortal wounds at 18″ is huge. When combined with the Chaos Lord’s aura, Typhus can be part of a powerful 1/2 punch that finishes off enemy targets weakened by other units. Smaller model and smaller base. Can fly over enemies and still fit in small gaps, fits in ruins, fits easier in confined spaces next to daemon princes Mortarion etc.

Bloodletters • Plaguebearers • Horror of Tzeentch • Daemonette • Nurglings • Beast of Nurgle • Plague Drone • Flamer • Screamer When it comes to the Death Guard characters, it’s worth noting that while they tend to offer solid options as leaders, many are also perfectly fine as stand-alone takes. Doing so forces an opponent to waste fire on a suboptimal target that can often shrug off more damage than expected – especially for the terminator characters. A lone Terminator Chaos Lord can be pretty nasty, especially as a Contagion generator who throws out extra mortal wounds every turn. Entropy cannons: Heavy 1 S8 AP-4 D D6. Pretty much a las cannon. If you grab two of these on the sponsons the Crawler becomes the promised artillery piece, but i certainly would not call it mobile. The plagueburst crawler does not have a rule that lets it move and ignore the penalty to shoot heavy weapons, meaning its very bad BS of 4+ becomes a 5+ the second you move or are wounded. If you are wounded and move that 5+ becomes a 6+. But let us assume you park the crawler on an objective, dont move all game and just shoot. While you are not in a lower wound profile your ballistic skill is still a 4+. You would have a mortar, shooting D6 for an average of 3.5 shots resulting in 1.75 hits. You then have two entropy cannons resulting in 1 hit. The heavy slugger then adds another 2 heavy bolter hits to that. That’s alright but not very exciting for the price point in my opinion. And that damage output drops drastically as soon as you get wounded. Moreover it might be my local meta, but every other game i am playing against Alpha Legion, Stygies VIII, Alaitoc Eldar, Tzeentch Daemons with a changeling, Dark Angels with a Darkshroud, Raven Guard, flyers such as Stormravens…. Your mileage may vary but in my local meta a BS of 4+ degrading and not ignoring heavy penalties just does not cut the mustard. The Icon Bearer ups the unit’s OC but his real value is a once-per game 12″ Contagion range aura, giving you the ability to surprise unsuspecting enemy units with -1 to their saves or hit rolls. This can also work through walls, opening up enemy units to early bombardments from your PBCs that functionally hit at AP-2. Putting this unit in a Rhino means your turn 1 Contagion threat range is effectively 27″. The same technique can also work with a coarse salt like kosher salt. Instead of applying the hair spray, use water to deposit clumps of salt on areas that you want to see weathered. After painting, you can then remove the salt to reveal fine details bits of corrosion. Once you get used to the technique you can get a sense of what does and doesn’t work for your particular style, and combine effects as needed. GW definitely did not waste the opportunity of using the open spaces on this kit to put it in as much detail as possible. Scabrous Soulrot (Aura): While an enemy unit is within Contagion Range of this unit, worsen the Leadership and Objective Control characteristics of models in that enemy unit by 1 (to a minimum of 1). When 6 or 7 characters are in your face, and they’re all reasonably durable with T5/6, and a lot of them being 2+/4+ save, it’s easy to over- or underallocate damage and leave me with a lot more assets than your strict damage output should. With the Chaos Lords then also having an end-of-turn (read: twice per round) pulse of Mortal Wounds from Desiccation Conduit to punish that, it was quite potent at putting a problem in front of your opponent. While it’s unlikely you’ll see success building around 30-40 plague marines, taking 1-2 units is plenty viable with the current army and environment, where Wraithknights no longer trivially wipe a squad in Overwatch. A unit of 10 Plague Marines can be outfitted with 4 heavy plague weapons (including the first on the champion), 2 blight launchers, and 2 each of plague belchers and plague spewer and for my money this is the best way to equip them – it makes them a terrifying Overwatch unit, especially when paired with the blightspawn, while giving them a pretty nasty melee punch. No Smokescreen, almost every 9 th army has a way to give a vehicle -1 to hit. The Death Guard strat does not work on the PBC.Overall I’d say I was happy with the list working as I’d designed it, it’s just that the design definitely has flaws.
