About this deal

What she and Sam have is different than what she and Jesse had, but it’s just as strong. She’s settled with Sam. She loves who she is with him and can see a future. They become engaged and things are looking up for them. Until she gets a phone call from a ghost- her long lost husband. It shakes her to her core.

In her 20s, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure. On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever. I have so many favourite lines that I don't know what to do with them except go through them and keep learning. Readers meet Lenore, Bryant's m.c., during the final weeks of her senior year of high school, and while we only get to follow her for a few weeks, we get to know her well because of the volume of pivotal moments and realizations she's having during this short window. While Lenore faces what I'll refer to with intentional vagueness as romantic challenges, she comes upon some unexpected opportunities when she heads on a graduation/birthday European cruise with her family. However, just as romance is not Lenore's only goal, it's certainly not Bryant's only focus. The titular concept misdirects readers - who are used to some simplification in many YA romances - into thinking that this novel is going to be about *the one*. Instead, it's very much about finding who we really are and what we actually love. That can be tough to do at any age or stage, but for a recent high school grad with a very specific college acceptance in hand, brilliant siblings on the sides, and involved parents hovering near, the challenge is especially harrowing. Oh no,” Dad says, spotting a trio of servers headed our way with a lit slice of cake. “You guys didn’t . . .” In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. The servers make an abrupt left and head to another table. Apparently, my father is not the only person born today. My mother sees what has happened and tries to recover. And how Sam reacts to basically knowing Emma slept with her once-dead husband? COME. ON. No anger, no resentment. Nothing? Just an “It’s ok, it happened.” That wasn’t believable at ALL. I don’t care how understanding you are. I don’t care if you’re a saint or the Dalai Lama himself. Knowing your fiancé has slept with someone else (multiple times) has got to evoke some emotions and anger. Simu Liu (Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), and Luke Bracey (Point Break) star in this modern twist on a classic love story from NY Times bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid. Emma and Jesse are living the perfect life together, until Jesse disappears in a tragic helicopter crash on their first wedding anniversary. Four years later, Emma has found happiness again and is about to marry her best friend when Jesse resurfaces, turning her world upside down and leaving her torn between two great loves. i think seeing more closure between her and her parents by the end of the book would have made me enjoy the book even more than i did. i also think what was happening with her brother was a bit rushed so just fleshing that out more would’ve made this book perfect. Emma Blair fell in love with her future husband Jesse Lerner the moment she laid eyes on him at a swim competition her freshman year of high-school. Jesse is popular, handsome, charming and seemingly completely out of Emma’s reach. Living in a small town in Massachusetts, Emma’s parents own a local bookstore and through the bookstore Emma meets Sam. As Emma and Jesse grow and change, their love blossoms and becomes the all-consuming love of high-school sweethearts.

this book also didnt end the way i was wanting it to (i mean, lets be real. its going to take much more than three days to come to a life changing decision. i wasnt really buying that emma knew exactly what she wanted just after one weekend away. emotions and feelings are so much complicated than that) but, the more i think about it, the more i guess im okay with it. because it is a really sweet message, a message that i dont think would have been possible had it ended the way i was hoping. regardless of this not quite being the story i was wanting, this is really sweet and quite touching overall! When her family embarks on a post-graduation Mediterranean cruise, her friend Tessa is sure Lenore’s in for a whirlwind romance. But Lenore knows that doesn’t happen to girls like her.

I'm deeply in love with this book. One True Loves is my new favorite book. It tells you what I really feel about this book. Lenore Bennett has always been a force. A star artist and style icon at her high school, she’s a master in the subtle art of not giving a . . . well, you know what. But now that graduation is here, she’s a little less sure. My dad laughs and puts his arm around her. “All right,” he says. “I’m in a sugar coma and I’m sure Emma and Sam have better things to do than stay out with us. Let’s get the bill.”Last week, my fiancé, Sam, gave me the ring he has spent over two months shopping for. It’s a diamond solitaire on a rose gold band. While it is not my first engagement ring, it is the first time I’ve ever worn a diamond. When I look at myself, it’s all I can see. I have tons of quote highlighted everywhere throughout the book. But I wanted to bring special attention to how seriously fantastic a job this author did of specifically describing the way that Emma healed after Jesse's disappearance. You'll see exactly what I mean when you read it. But there's this "section" of the book where the whole writing style changes and it. is. perfect. It had this rhythm and momentum to it that so flawlessly yet powerfully conveyed exactly what Emma was going through. The best way I can describe it is by calling it a 'montage with words' — you know like how they'll do in movies or trailers where they show all these clips together with music — and when I got to the last line of it, that was the moment that I shed my first tear. It was beautiful writing. Just beautiful. My mother is sitting next to him in a gauzy white blouse and khakis, trying to hold in a smile. She knows that a tiny cake with a candle and a song are coming any minute. She has always been childlike in her zeal for surprises. I wish there were more parts of Marie, Emma's sister, and their parents; as well as Olive's the bestie of Emma.

this book was just a book of so many different things. of knowing when to let go and when to hold on. this is almost a once-in-a-lifetime experience and tale, i think. some things i learnt from this: this was just so gutwrenchingly real, i swear. it made me feel so much, think about it so much (which tbh i wasn't planning on doing at all). I continue to be a mega fan of Bryant's work and am already excited to see what comes next! Recommended, obviously! Lately, no one outside of 978, 857, 508, or 617—the various area codes of Boston and its suburbs—has reason to call me. Emma loved both men -- but what man will she choose? The process in which she chooses -- was honest.Just to make things clear before I explain why I hated this story, there is one thing you should know about me – indecisive and selfish heroine is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to books. And Emma was exactly that.
