About this deal

No Cooking Required: MREs can be eaten cold, or heated using the included FRH. This makes them a convenient meal option, particularly in environments where fire or cooking equipment is not available. They also sell military meals for civilians, with reduced sodium content usually, but these supplies are sometimes limited. This kit contains a total of 11,520 calories and can support one person for around 10 days for a complete everyday meal lineup.

What's On

The first American military ration established by a Congressional Resolution, during the Revolutionary War, consisted of enough food to feed a man for one day, mostly beef, peas, and rice. [3] During the Civil War, the U.S. military moved toward canned goods. Later, self-contained kits were issued as a whole ration and contained canned meat, bread, coffee, sugar and salt. During World War I, canned meats were replaced with lightweight preserved meats (salted or dried) to save weight and allow more rations to be carried by soldiers on foot. At the beginning of World War II, a number of new field rations were introduced, including the Mountain ration and the Jungle ration. Cost-cutting measures by Quartermaster Command officials during the latter part of World War II and the Korean War again saw the predominance of heavy canned C-rations issued to troops, regardless of operating environment or mission. [4] During World War II, over 100 million cans of Spam were sent to the Pacific. [5] The use of canned wet rations continued through the Vietnam War, with the improved MCI. Shelf Life: Most MREs have a shelf life of 3 to 5 years, meaning they can be stored for long periods before use. What’s more, is we were given a few bonus servings for the dessert and fruits. Nothing can really cheer up than tasty fruits and a good vanilla pudding! English: U.S. Army Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service noting Dr. Rauno A. This kit contains a total of 124 servings of meals, making it one of the best civilian MREs we’ve ever had for this review. For example, the Julian date code 1068 means 9th of March 2001 as the “068” stands for the 68th day of the year and 1 stands for 2001. Remember the Lembas bread in The Lord of the Rings? Those power bread that will give you enough energy for the whole day with just one serving?
