About this deal

Ensure surfaces are in suitable condition for painting and clean, dry, free from wax, grease of penetrating substances and in sound condition. If previously painted, remove loose or flaking paint. Fill any holes/imperfections with a suitable filler. Tertiary colours: Created by mixing a primary and secondary colour – for example add red to the green you made to get brown. Step 6: Start painting! I wish I had taken more photos of this process but once you start it is hard to stop. Stir your pot of Fusion Mineral paint well. Dip your brush tip into the pot of paint. Understand that a little goes a very long way. The first coat should be a thin, light coat of paint. Do NOT over dip! You want a small amount of paint on your brush. Paint shouldn’t be dripping off your brush all over the place. Although Vintro Chalk Paint is very durable we would recommend finishing with Vintro Extreme Lacquer for use in kitchens, bathrooms and outdoors. Curing time is up to 2-3 weeks in normal conditions. Treat the newly painted surface with care until then.

When using your chalk paint, use a brush to firstly fill-in any edges and small, detailed areas, followed by a velour roller to paint a smooth coat across the larger areas of the item. Some chalk paint only requires one coat, but again this varies depending upon the paint and the item painted. What is Chalk Paint? Protective waxing or a sealer coat of polyurethane can extend the life of chalk paint. Experts recommend sealing chalk paint finishes with a protective wax to prevent wear and tear, especially in high-traffic areas or high-touch surfaces. For peace of mind, brands like Rust-Oleum and others provide their own protective top coats designed for use with their chalk paint. The best chalk paint is Rust-Oleum Ultra Matte Interior Chalked Paint. With outstanding adherence and durability, this paint is great for a wide variety of surfaces. For small craft projects where you don't want a lot of leftover paint, we recommend FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Paint, which comes in bottles as small as 2 ounces and costs just about a dollar an ounce. Navy blue, indigo, dark teal – there are many luxurious shades of dark blue to inspire and invigorate you. Many people upcycle coffee tables, bookcases, and chests within their living room, dining tables and chairs within their dining room, and then wardrobes and chests of drawers within their bedrooms. Any color of chalk paint can be found to match your color scheme and the specific piece of furniture, transforming your home through one piece of upcycled furniture at a time. How to make Chalk Paint? This paint dries to the touch in 30 minutes. However, if you’re looking for a more opaque finish, you’ll have to wait at least two hours between coats. While primer isn't necessary with this chalk paint, it is highly suggested for unfinished wood. You also don't need to sand your surface for the paint to adhere. If paint gets on the floor by accident, the latex formula makes it easy to clean up with just soap and water. For individuals who want a fast and consistent finish, a spray paint application of chalk paint may be the best option. Spray chalk paint will achieve a smooth and uniform finish, although, for those individuals who desire a more vintage chalk paint look, traditional chalk paints may be a wiser option.

What is the best furniture to upcycle with chalk paint? The honest answer is any wooden furniture which you have within your home, especially if the tint of the wood has faded and it looks as though it could do with a varnish or some general tender loving care. If you want to try bolder colors, then blue and green hues are currently the hottest shades on the interior decor scene, from gorgeous turquoise to teals and mint greens, to deep, rich navy blue tones. This colour is so popular because it brings depth, drama and shadow – unlike other dramatic shades , Graphite complements and enriches almost every other colour. It’s very easy to use but makes a bold statement.' 13. French Linen by Annie SloanFor ferrous metal, treat rust, remove any loose or flaking coatings and sand smooth - in these circumstances, we recommend 2 coats of Frenchic Finishing Coat as a base for the paint. Surface preparation required in addition to the above – clean with Frenchic Sugar Soap, rinse and dry thoroughly. Hand-sand sufficiently to abrade the surface. Wipe off any dust, paint away!
