Spread the lawn feed in two directions or use a mechanical spreader to evenly distribute the granules. Before buying any lawn feed, you may wish to measure your lawn so that you can find out how many m² it is. This way, you can work out how much product to buy, and how many applications it will last for. Method 3: Plants usually easily killed using one or two applications of weedkillers containing 2,4-D plus mecoprop-P or 2,4-D plus dicamba or fluroxypyr. Naturally, you can’t apply lawn weed and feed during the winter. When the temperatures are below zero weedings and feeding isn’t recommended, because the soil is too hard and can’t absorb the nutrients. Summer is also a not good idea for weeding and feeding because the soil can be too dry for absorbing the nutrients. However, there are some exceptions, for instance with Scotts weed and feed schedule. Safety Considerations

In most cases, you need a first feeding in the early spring, followed by another in mid to late May as the summer approaches. Then, continue feeding every six to eight weeks until the end of October. Let the ground rest over the winter, and repeat the cycle the following spring. Can I use weed and feed on trees and shrubs? Read the instructions before you begin – it’s important to follow them and apply the product correctly. This will ensure your safety and give the most effective results Choose a specific spring/summer lawn fertiliser and apply it at the manufacturer’s recommended rate in mid-spring, while the lawn is green and actively growing (usually late March/April). These feeds are high in nitrogen, to boost leafy growth, and usually release their nutrients slowly over several months You can apply regular granular fertilisers repeatedly according to the instructions the manufacturer provides. Depending on their concentration, this could mean reapplication every 4 to 6 weeks or longer. There are a few different types of spreader you can buy. If your lawn is over 150m2, then I’d suggest investing in a spreader with wheels. This means as long as the the lawn is actively growing and the soil is moist. It may not have rained for a week and there may be no rain in the forecast but as long as there is adequate soil moisture present then it is safe to apply. Some fertilisers do need watering in if there is no rain and this will be noted on the label. If the soil is dry and hard consider holding off until adequately watered. Apply Before or After Rain?
