About this deal

But it seems you can't really have all that 'success' without it tainting your perspective making it bent on revenge, fear or selfish ambition. I have been enjoying Michael McIntyre’s work for many years and saw him live in Cardiff back in 2018.

Michael McIntyre’s spot-on observational comedy and trademark ability to turn everyday situations into masterclasses of human exasperation have struck chords with millions of fans, cementing him as one of the UK’s most loved comedy performers. Michael McIntyre brings this wonderful autobiography to life with the kindle version that has his voice on the audio version. Looking back at this work, I’m fairly sure I’ve watched everything he’s done, have all his DVDs and have read all his books (all 2 of them!

Laugh along with Michael McIntyre as he lifts the curtain on his life in his long-awaited autobiography.

So I was so pleased to see that this book finds Michael striving for new goals, and is still every bit as entertaining as he finds the road to continued success can still be filled with pitfalls, as well as rewards. Biography: Michael McIntyre's spot-on observational comedy and ability to turn everyday situations into masterclasses of human exasperation have struck a chord with millions of fans, making him one of the most successful comedians in the world. Along the way he opens his man drawer, narrowly avoids disaster when his trousers fall down in front of three policemen and learns the hard way why he should always listen to his wife. I had previously read his other book which was written in a similar vein and this one follows on with the next part of his career. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The book is quite interesting though as it charts his progress from regular employment, through the comedy scene and into the mainstream media. We see how he and wife cope with starting a family and moving up the property ladder - all delivered with Michael's unique brand of wit and wonder.

It amazed me that he openly admits that he’s never read a book in his life and doesn’t enjoy reading. Michael has had a silly life, a stressful life, sometimes a moving and touching life, but always A Funny Life. Michael McIntyre is a great storyteller and I could actually hear his voice in my head telling the tales, as I read. In addition to stand-up, Michael hosts the smash-hit television shows Michael McIntyre's Big Show (which won him a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance) and Michael McIntyre's The Wheel.I even heard a few people around me make a similar comment like “I heard him do some of those jokes before” when seeing Michael live in Cardiff. There's also little sections where he suggests you google something or watch something on YouTube which adds to the engagement. It is clear that McIntyre is a man who is in his element when everything revolves around him, when there are others in the limelight, he is self aware enough to know that he does not do as well. If you have seen his shows then while listening you can just imagine him doing his thing with his head bobbing.

He is an obsessive character, his ambition spurring him on to greater and greater heights, as with his runaway Saturday night success with Michael McIntyre's Big Show. I know he is a comedian that people either seem to love or hate, something he talks about in this book. To some degree I take the point about musicians doing new stuff – but by the same token, we love concerts to hear the music we already know. He deserves every bit of success that he worked so hard for and it was fab to hear more of his story! I found myself missing him, and the rest of the book felt like it lost its sparkle, though their was also more weight to it, with Michael having to figure out how to move forward with his career without Addison in his corner.Although he means well his desire in chasing fame, wealth and status dominates his life and purpose which was sad to read as he doesn't necessarily present himself that way in his stand up. Although I am aware of Michael McIntyre, his huge popularity making him hard to miss, I have never seen his record-breaking comedy DVD's, or various TV projects. In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there.
