About this deal

Hi Amber, I just wanted to say thanks for recommending the superdrug wash in was out conditioner, when I first read about it I thought it will never work, when I was in my teens I hated my red hair so was forever trying to get it blonde with the wash in wash out stuff unsurprisingly, it never took to my hair, but now I accept and actually quite like my red hair, I bought extensions but the hairdresser could never colour match them to my exact colour so today I bought the superdrug stuff and attempted to add red highlights to the brownish extensions, well it came out perfect, an exact match infant so I’m super happy! This was recommended to me by a hair dresser who said that I had rust build up on my hair because I have well water. Not only can they remove brassiness, neutralize unwanted undertones, dye your hair, and enhance your color in between salon visits, but they also keep your hair smooth and moisturized.

It was also easy to use – I simply applied it to wet hair after shampooing and left it on for a few minutes before rinsing it out. For best results, there must be no products on hair before the application, not even conditioner, as it helps the colour to saturate well on hair. Celeb Luxury offers color-depositing shampoos that are all about enhancing and even creating extreme shades. So, it’s super-simple, really: just use them as you’d use any regular shampoo or conditioner, make sure you leave them on for at least three minutes (This goes for the shampoo as well as conditioner), then rinse and style as normal.Unlike some of the other colour-depositing products I’ve tried, I actually rate this as a shampoo/conditioner, too: as well as making my natural ginger look a little brighter, it also leaves it feeling softer and smoother than usual, so it gets a thumbs-up for that reason, too. The color lasted for about 3 weeks before fading, which is pretty good for a semi-permanent dye, but it’s not designed to cover grays, which I guess will render it pretty useless if that’s what you’re wanting it for. As her 2024 goal, she has vowed to find the best (extra) dirty martini NYC has to offer—and yes, that means ~attempting~ to try every cute cocktail spot in the city (hit her up with some recs, pls). I do, however, occasionally miss having an unnatural and shocking red/fuchsia hair colour, but I keep reminding myself how much my hair grew in the past year or so I’ve been using it.

To help you choose the best color-depositing conditioners for your hair type and color, I personally tested and reviewed nine on my own hair and consulted celebrity hairstylists Madison Clifford, Laura Rugetti, and Venner James—as well as gathered tips from hairstylist Ro Morgan—for everything you need to know about color-depositing conditioners, below. Just keep in mind that for the ultimate color payoff, many silver dyes require starting with light-colored or bleached hair — which means you will likely want to proceed with caution if your hair isn't already one of those shades. These days I mostly use henna to enhance my ginger hair: which works, but which is messy, time-consuming, and very permanent (other than on me, apparently, but that’s a whole other subject…). Even though these products did a great job at refreshing my faded colour, my hair required something a little more heavy hitting.

About: Temporary hair colours just stain or deposit colour on the hair’s surface, giving an instant colour to hair. Like many gray hair dyes, this works best if you start out with bleached or light hair — it may have a tough time showing up on darker hues.
