About this deal

There is an annual dinner held at the hotel and the irascible chef has fired all the local staff, preferring to use agency staff instead, who have cancelled at the last minute. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. But what really sold this book to me was the romance, the spark between Meg and Justin, and the way their relationship develops throughout the book made my heart sing. v=1611673194","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":17054316724379,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. But yeah, it's fiction, and we are allowed to have super friends who can rearrange their plans to help you.

But then unfortunately it’s a dose of reality of what women faced back then, especially those aspiring to work in kitchens – ironic when ‘the woman should do the cooking in the house’. Katie Fforde lives in the beautiful Cotswold countryside with her family, and is a true country girl at heart. It does acknowledge the lack of time to process events at some point but I felt that there were opportunities where this could have been dealt with. Although you could say this book is historical, the 1960s could be seen to be by some, for me it is more a reflection on how women’s roles were changing and that in some cases, women are still seen to be so far behind their male counterparts.Meg and Louise now need to get some staff back, with the help of long time resident of the hotel Ambrosine who does the flowers, picked fresh from the hotels gardens, they manage to bring back some locals to help. She was one of a group of three young women who attended a London cookery school aimed at teaching the culinary arts to young ladies.

They desperately want to improve the hotel by adding en-suite bathrooms and improving the decoration. It all added to the beauty of this book though, making it a great all round package and again has left me wanting more. Fforde never disapoints' Weekly 'This is the perfect Mother's Day read' Take a Break 'A joy of a read from Katie Fforde' That's Life 'This enjoyable read will appeal to die-hard romantics' Heat Magazine ____________ Ever since she can remember, Meg has wanted to be a professional cook.

Overall a very good quality service from this seller and I would not hesitate to recommend this seller. Not good - I used to enjoy some Katie Fforde crafted escapism as a guilty pleasure, and would devour her books on beaches. Being set in the 1960s it meant that some of the character's views were very off compared with today and I thought it was great to see how attitudes have mostly changed. The characters were very well rounded and you instantly become invested in the storyline, the characters, and the beautiful old hotel.

Having been born in the 60’s a lot of things reminded me of my young days, no bathroom’s indoors, I remember staying in hotels when on holiday as we were growing up and none of them had en suite facilities. My thanks to Courtney Jefferies from edpr and the publishers for the proof and finished copies and the place on the tour.Among the Characters, I love the play on "found family" trope going among the staff of Nightingale Woods.
