In the book it was much more about Belly’s ongoing love for Conrad, which did make Jere and Belly getting together at the end feel very sudden. It was just a continuation of the last one which ended kinda abruptly, so this series is probably meant to be read back-to-back to make it seem like all one storyline. We had so much fun dissecting the book and ended up typing over 3700 words through conversation on google docs about it. She is still pining over Conrad and yet, the first real chance she gets to lock lips with Jeremiah, she jumps right in, managing to hurt Conrad in the process, like somehow although she's known all along that he really loves her, being kissed by his brother, convinces her that she is suddenly over him. This was my favorite show and this book is just so beautiful and enjoyable I love it so much it is my all time favorite book. I don't know if it's because Belly is one year older or if Janny Han re-read her book and was like “What have I written? But anyways, Belly the Brat is as annoying as ever, and while I don't remember, my past self says that she was less annoying in this book than in the first one, so that's a plus.By July, I was already at Cousins Beach, and home and school and school friends were a million miles away. These two brothers have just lost their mother and are dealing with that grief, so Belly, maybe it shouldn't be all about you just this once.

I get that they're going through the same thing in different ways, but PLEASE do it in a healthier way than being mean to others.And Jeremiah, his younger brother, is still Belly's best friend - but maybe friendship isn't enough for him anymore.
