The distillery uses unpeated malt and according to former master distiller Alan Winchester still carries the DNA of George Smith’s mid 19th century Glenlivet. Because it’s hard to count the number of ‘firsts’ this brand can claim, starting from its establishment back in 1824, which makes it the first ever licensed distillery from the Speyside region of Scotland.
