Meanwhile, Superman is talking to Mister Miracle and Big Barda when he begins hearing the anarchy erupting across the planet. The story takes place in an alternate Earth, where a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation has infected most of Earth's inhabitants with a zombie-like virus. Arsenal is then killed by an infected Fire, followed by the arrival of Constantine, Zatanna, Red Hood, Ragman, Blue Devil, Detective Chimp and Ravager. DCeased was probably one of the first DC comics I thoroughly enjoyed so when I saw the entire series was on KU, I was so excited. When they find her, Dinah is happy to see Jon is alright and Mary offers to have Fate protect Ollie while they are away, so they can cure him.

Batman explains to the group that the infected are not zombies, because they are not consumed by hunger. Like seeing Batman joking around and being a bit more charismatic is so weird, but Taylor does it right. The duo agree and find they are not the only ones helping Savage as Deadshot, Bane, Lady Shiva, Cheetah, Captain Cold, Solomon Grundy, and Creeper are also there. Darkseid and his army of infected New Gods lay siege to the planet Korugar, with the fear of its populace reaching out to Warworld, where Sinestro and his Yellow Lanterns reside. As soon as I finished this I immediately downloaded his Hellblazer: Rise and Fall, which is all Constantine.With the Amazos dealt with, Superman arrived in Europe and despite the danger Trigon possessed to him, he was able to beat him down long enough for Constantine, using Deadman's powers to possess the demon and make him kill himself with the Spear of Destiny, ending the demonic threat in Europe. Years after the events in DCeased, Cyborg's head sends out a distress signal, and Superboy (now Superman) heads up the team that goes on a rescue mission. And Taylor shows once again why Jon and Damian are a better Superman and Batman than their dads ever were. With the evacuation from the Gotham Jungle completed, Poison Ivy declares she cannot abandon the Green and Harley decides to stay with her. Superman secures the Daily Planet by removing all the infected from the building and blocking the exits.

Not willing to miss an opportunity to bring the remaining infected humans and heroes back to their natural state, they embark on a hopeless mission praying that an inkling of normalcy can be reinstated.Perhaps the issue isn't a lack of character building and more a reliance on Fourth World and Justice League Dark characters. kills Red Hood before Cassandra takes the staff from Shazam and uses her newfound lightning powers to kill Captain Marvel Jr.

Sinestro attempts to explain that they are trying to save the planet but an infected Supergirl attacks them, injuring Kyle and infecting Warworld with the Anti-Life virus. Having become aware of the pandemic on Earth, Ganthet explains the Guardians decided to quarantine the planet. At the Tower of Fate, Jon awakens to Krypto giving him all sorts of affection with Mary sitting in the chair nearby. Doctor Fate, knowing they had magic and science on their side, they would find the cure within Cyborg. I'm not sure I've ever liked them more, as Taylor's version of these two now-adult superheroes was just about as perfect as it was subtly surprising.Ganthet states the Corps does not have the power to reach into the Sun's core to stop Superman directly. Meanwhile, Mirror Master tells Shiva that he's found Cassandra, and Shiva arrives in Bludhaven in an attempt to convince her daughter to join her but the two argue and begin to fight. Referring to them as the "Anti-Living", Batman states that they are "stealing" life and spreading death and that it is being caused by the Anti-Life Equation and he too has been infected. On Apokolips, Cyborg is being tortured by DeSaad, who reveals that one-half of the Anti-Life Equation exists within his cybernetic body and that Darkseid intends to merge it with the half already in his possession. He uses the clock to absorb the souls of Penguin and Maxwell Lord so that Jon and Damian can shut down the Amazo army.

Cyborg features prominently, as do the Super Sons, Damien Wayne and Jon Kent, who are now adults and have assumed the mantles of Batman and Superman, respectively. Zatanna is able to stop the android, but several more arrive, as does Swamp Thing, through growing a new body. The survivors regroup and continue towards Gotham as Ivy's garden comes into view, but also discover a massive horde of Anti-Living outside of it. Trevor Hairsine's artwork is still eminently suited for this book; he's rough around the edges and a little gritty, but it's exctly what a book about a world covered in Anti-Life zombies should look like, for sure.

Using his super-speed, Wally is able to mass-produce the cure and he and Jon attempt to deliver it to as many people as possible before they are destroyed by the Amazos or by Trigon, who manifests in Paris. Suspecting a trap, but with too much on the line, the new Justice League must make their way home to the dead planet to see what awaits them and who is left to be saved! Deathstroke tells her to go on the roof but is attacked by an infected Man-Bat and crashes into the apartment.
