About this deal

I know I personally love getting to hear the story and languages as intended (and not in my terrible Midwestern accent). It’s a complex romance but also one that is fun to watch as two messy but loveable characters fall for each other.

Soldier through the start as she sets up her characters and puts the story in motion, because once she is on a tear there is no stopping her, and then she’s funny as hell. Meanwhile, the Shots have lost only one game in a late surge and might qualify for the play-offs; not knowing how the 2016/17 run-in ended becomes quite exciting for the non-partisan reader (ie just about everyone). there are several side characters who a friend of mine compared quite accurately to those of casey mcquiston: they exist outside of the protagonists with their own lives, emotions and personalities, and are very easy to grow attached to.In the process it pays tribute to a gentler time and world of entertainment was variety shows and provincial theatre. Finally, and this is tough to explain, but while reading this I had to wonder, is all representation good representation? It's also a book that talks heavily about Ely's Jewishness, as she's grown up in an Orthodox Jewish family and is grappling with what religion means to her and her place among Jewish people after having been kicked out by her family. Most of the story is told from Ely’s POV but there are several chapters told from Wyatt’s POV, which worked very well.

A sparkling historical mystery set in sunny Sussex by the sea, perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Robert Thorogood and Elly Griffiths. Throughout the book the author is a strong presence, becoming almost a character in the story itself through use of parentheticals and conversational tendencies that read as if someone is talking to the reader directly as they might relate an occurance or tell a story. The next morning, Ely wakes up alone and rushes off to attend her first photography class, reminiscing on the best one-night stand of her life. While these organizations have worked for thousands, they are not the only path to recovery and sometimes not even the best path to recovery, and I am wary of media that implies that it is. And not only the discussions and conversations had, but the word and writing choices that were made - they knew exactly what details to give and not give that felt real, authentic, and confirming. With Crystal forthright on his opinions of enfant terrible and decidedly angry Northern playwright, Jack Braithwaite, his panning of ‘A Shilling in the Meter’ is a foregone conclusion. But if I wanted lit fic, I’d read lit fic, and not a poorly structured romance book, you know what I mean? We begin in 1951, with the ‘Middle Street Massacre,’ where Inspector Steine (pronounced ‘Steen’) believes he has wiped out crime in the town, when two major gangs manage to wipe each other out.

at the same time, it gives plenty of space for their relationship to develop without squandering or trivialising the other threads of their lives. While I believed in the chemistry in the relationship, and definitely appreciated the exploration of both characters' past and present traumas and the importance of art and photography in their lives, I think that there were still a couple things that didn't work for me. She left Chabad and New York due to the effects of her addiction, not because of anything to do with being Chabad or Jewish in general. But when Wyatt Cole walks into the classroom, Ely realizes the man she just spent the night with is her teacher. Thanks so much to Random House Ballantine and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Moonlight slants through the trees on the ancestral Dunlow estate, where a young woman runs for her life.

I am grateful to author Lynne Truss, Bloomsbury Publishing, Plc and Netgalley for having provided a free advanced reader e-copy of this book. They really put you into the head and life of these characters so you were able to not only see how and why they got to where they were, but the emotional impact it had on everyone. But that tension also let a smile reach my eyes, and that same body, stiff from anxiety and worries, began to tingle. The topics on substance abuse and addiction were well done (trigger warnings) and hard to read for so many reasons, but I couldn’t be happier to have read Ely and Wyatt’s story.

Into this mix arrives college educated Constable Twitten - now here we have an extremely intelligent individual, who aims to make his mark investigating the murder of a much hated theatre critic. It’s a romance but it’s not a rom com, I don’t know where I mistakenly got that from because it’s heavy but it’s got so much heart. and he never once goes to therapy about it, he just gets into a complicated relationship with someone who is just starting to rebuild their life bc they want to fuck each other so bad it makes them look stupid. the connection and tension between ely and wyatt from the very beginning was just *chef's kiss* and only intensified as the novel went on.
