About this deal

Inside the Storm is a trusty single dynamic driver setup, which you can actually see inside because of the shell). Due to its inherent boomy sound, it really gives me that impression that these instruments and vocals that pivots toward on the lows are a bit exaggerated on its ledge. Her voice begins the track mellow and sweet but slowly crescendos into a powerful ballad style when the chorus hits and the KB01 plays it very well.

Though like other single DD types, amping can increase dynamics, soundstage and perhaps microdetails a tinge. It is a set well suited to sitting back and chilling and enjoying the music for what it is, not the gear. However, the upper midrange rise gives instruments like electric guitars a distinct presence in the playback which I find quite enjoyable. Baritones sound smoother and warmer but there are some hints of harshness on dramatic ones, countertenors have dazzling and lighter characteristics like Geedy Lee of Rush and Robert Plant on his tessitura.According to KBEAR, the cabinet cavity of the KBEAR KS2 is made of an imported high-density PC material which can suppress the diffuse reflection of sound waves inside the cavity.

The 2-pin connector is a QDC style connection so if you are going to upgrade this is good info to have. As for its tonality, this is quite a throwback regarding its sound profile that reminds of its older predecessor, the KS1 on which they share the same sound signature, a typical warmish V-shaped.Rated at 32 ohms and a sensitivity of around 109 db’s (give or take a couple) the KB01 worked flawlessly with my Fiio UTWS5 ( AK4332 dac chip) when out and about.

Which usually involves me explaining my reasoning so that I don’t get DMs from you folks concerning my horrible ratings. Unlike the KS2, the KS1 uses an opaque material so the internals are not visible even in bright light. It is bottlenecked at the technicalities aspect and in the bass quality area, but I feel it would otherwise make a fine addition for those who are new to this hobby or those who want a laid back tuning that is different from the usual budget CHIFI fare. She comes across clean and with nice resolution but warmer and more laid back than many iems of late. SeparationSeparation slightly suffers from some slight (and I do mean slight) lack of resolution on “some” tracks. After removing the initial cardboard, the IEM drivers immediately greet you whilst being covered by a clear plastic layer and are enclosed with foam.
