About this deal

Laura Bates has brilliantly put into words many of my own experiences where I have never had the words for them before. There are still injustices towards women that are raped, assaulted or even murdered by a male, and these injustices are sometimes entirely justified by the fact the person was a female. For women reading this book a lot of the topics/stories covered and information provided is either well known or completely entrenched into the fibre of our being — we live this daily. This is factual information which is clear and accessible to everyone, and I'm thankful to Laura Bates for yet again, standing up for women.

Whichever way anyone looks at this, this is yet another misogynistic method of exerting control over women's lives.

Listing fact after devastating fact that will be all too familiar to the female reader, Fix the System Not the Women makes for a tough read. Laura Bates is the founder of the Everyday Sexism Project, an ever-increasing collection of over 200,000 testimonies of gender inequality, with branches in 25 countries worldwide. Thank you Laura Bates for writing such an important book and for advocating for those of us who had not yet been able to, or might never, find the right words. Bates is scathing about Priti Patel’s support for an app to log women’s movements, on top of managing all the other gear they are advised to carry. Combining stories with shocking evidence, Fix the System, Not the Women is a blazing examination of sexual injustice and a rallying cry for reform.

Elke vrouw heeft een lijstje, een lijstje met seksueel grensoverschrijdende gebeurtenissen die haar zijn overkomen. A story of breath-taking dealings that range from Riyadh to London, Paris to America, this is a thrilling and brutal investigation into extreme wealth, one of the world's most decisive and dangerous new leaders, and the bid for Saudi transformation that is reverberating around the world. Never before have I felt her formidable and brilliant voice more than in this book — and my god has she delivered some sardonic sentences in her previous offerings!

I read it with rage and anger at the injustices and inequalities, at how women are shamed and how they internalise this shame, and how they are held responsible for creating change rather than holding the systems and societal structures accountable for their oppression.
